Hey Guys!

I'm Alex, but on here I'm Rayvegg :P
I'm a music student at the University of Westminster, and I want to know EVERYONE'S opinion on their system!

Being a student, I often mix down my audio on a set of Active Mackie Monitors, but I don't have a system for listening back at home. Suggestions are MORE than welcome!

What kind of music do you like ?

No doubt there will be plenty of folks to offer advice on a system to listen to your music on. Why not start a thread in blank canvas and ask about it. However in order to make it easier for us to offer advice try and give us as much related info as you can. Size of room, taste in music, budget etc

So, what do you listen to music on at the moment away from college & what is it that you hope to get from any new system?
Are you interested in digging deep into the architecture of the music you & others create? (analytical listening) or do you want to hear it as entertainment?

At the moment, I'm using all digital mediums to listen to music (iPod, iPhone, PC etc.) but I'd really love to have a nice Hybrid, like a HDD based system for music storage and then some more interesting outboard equipment... and thats where my knowledge ends :P

As for room sizes, I'll update my profile as and when, as I'm moving out of dorms soon but I don't know where to yet, I'm still looking for an apartment or somewhere to live.

Musically, I listen to a lot of Metal and Rock, as well as some Hip-Hop and Trance. Amazing production required of all of those genres, particularly Metal :P
(TesseracT are most definitely a band to watch out for, on a good system they would DESTROY me :P)

Welcome, Alex from another one. I think if you are serious, then there is the potential for you to learn a lot from people on here, as by and large you have found a collection of music lovers who also enjoy the technical side of music reproduction. Maybe those of us who prefer something more than MP3 are in the minority these days, but that doesn't mean we are wrong!

On the other hand, if you weren't serious you still put enough effort in to get your Spotify invite, so enjoy! ;)
