I bought a pair of the older model mono blocks off good ol ebay.

Connected them up to my speakers at the time (B&W cm1) and not a single note was produced. In fact one of the woofers blew. I was fuming. Got the old "well they were working when I sent them" reply.

I would love to try the latest models with the external psu but would I replace my valve amp for them..? Not really sure.
