View Full Version : Mint Decca Blue cartridge for sale
I am selling my Mint Decca Blue cartridge which has very low hours on it, probably only 50-80.
It has been serviced and recalibrate by John Wright Audio services who is a specialist Decca engineer and I have the receipt to prove work he has done.
This is a particularly fine and very nice sounding example with the Parmico coils. It is not the top Decca London cartridge but probably one of the best sounding with these coils and superb stylus condition.
I am looking for £285 delivered.

That price is too low Jim.
I loaned this a while back and it was preferable to the Gold and Super Gold I had at the time.
Put the price up!

Hate to show my ignorance here, especially having had a Decca/London (C4E?) for a short while in the seventies. I have a 12" Ace Anna, which sounds, from what I've read, quite suitable. How on Earth does one affix the cart. to the headshell, though? Does one need an attachment?. I gather the output is 7.5 mV, which is comparatively astronomical, and I wonder if it would overload my E.A.R. 912's phono input. This has a three-way gain control, but I don't know if it works on m.m. selection( easy to find out, of course).
Jimbo, did you have the stylus changed to a line contact or whatever, or have another conical one put on by J.W.?
Bit of a learning curve, this, but it would be nice to revisit my youth, so to speak, but with the benefit of better gear and an RCM.. I'm used to moving coils (Koetsu, Benz, Lyra and currently Transfig.) but currently have an Ortofon VMS 20E mk.2 on the Ace Anna and am very surprised indeed by its performance; so were the others in my bake-off a couple of months ago, so am toying with a m.m. as a foil to the Proteus on my 12" PU7.

Hi Mike, this is an original NOS Decca cartridge which has had very little use 80 hours or so and still has original stylus. John Wright serviced it by making sure everything was in correct alignment and put some new damping material in it. It was then checked and evaluated and sent back to me. The cartridge has only been owned by one other owner who had not used it. The conical stylus is perfect condition.
The cartridge is fitted using the mounting bracket which I have photographed below.

You can buy a 4 pin version of the mounting bracket from John Wright, or you can wire the two earths into one tag, or you can leave one earth unconnected.
