New month... weather was nice this morning but drifting to cold and wet. dull too and will have to put lights on
Gone the opposite way here, cold and dismal this morning, now warm and sunny.

The BBC forecasted gloom, doom and cold but it's a lovely, sunny day with not a cloud in the sky.
Nice and sunny at the moment here, but not terribly warm (currently only 8 deg), as indeed the forecast predicted! However, in the sun it's dry and pleasant.
Meeting Del for lunch today at a cafe just down the road, which is adjacent to a hospice, and specialises in using only locally-sourced ingredients to produce all the food: http://cafficwtchwrexham.co.uk/
And all food is prepared by a top Scottish chef, called Peter Jackson, whom I know from his time in the once renowned Colonial restaurant in Glasgow, during the 80s and early 90s, and both Bodysgallen Hall and Maes y Neuadd, which in the past we've stayed and dined at.

What sort of restaurant is that then, they don't even do a steak? Even Frankie & Bennies do a steak. Although it's a right rip-off.
Got invited to one of those Michelin places once, had a look at the menu on line. No steak! In fact nothing I fancied if it were offered me for free and it was a ton a head!
Lol - it's a wee cafe, mate. Not a proper restaurant. Is there anything else you eat apart from steak?:eyebrows:

I've eaten all sorts of crazy food all around the world but steak and chips is still my favourite. Or if there's no chips I'll live with a quality side like potatoes au gratin.

Plenty of places have that stuff, but in kid-size portions. Just order two and you're sorted. Sometimes you might get a free toy :)

Lol... Did you follow the link, daftee? The cafe is part of a hospice, which caters for the palliative care of patients with terminal cancer, and is run entirely by voluntary staff. It isn't licensed and closes at 4pm, so not much of a 'restaurant';)
The food's great, though! They also do afternoon tea, with all sorts of gorgeous looking home-made cakes and scones, so we're going to try that next time:)

I took my Mrs and my mother ,for a late Mothers day out .
The pub was recommended by a friend of ours ,and despite its rural rustic charm ,the food was really very very tasty and I enjoyed the pint of Sharps Atlantic too.
I didnt take to the bearded and moustacheoed barman /waiter , who liked to call me Budd , at every occasion , and when he eventually bought us the lovely food ,thought it was also a good idea to tap me on the arm as he went away from the table !
To my shame , I thought he was the new landlord , and I never left a tip :rolleyes:
Do I need help or a visit to a shrink?

It's snowing in Devil's Bridge in Wales atm and about 1 degree. Somewhat freezing in the motor home.
However there is the Hafod Hotel a few minutes walk away and the food is sublime. The lamb shank was exquisite.
snowing like mad up here too.
We just had some rain and sleet, but the sun's back out again... Typical April weather!:doh:

sure the temp will creep up a degree or 2 and it will turn to rain. knew it was to be a crap day so went yesterday to get my rasps etc. also picked up a big wooden punnet or tray of huge red strawberries.. had a few already and they are nice n sweet. Had that for tea with rice crispies as i had a big lunch
most of the snow is away.. yay
The cows here are not really liking the wettish weather and cold ,but at least its not ruddy artic!!
Reminds me of a more traditional April -showers of sleet sunny intervals, and of course its getting better in a day or so peeps !!

Was 5C, gloomy and raining when I got up. The sun's now come out, but I don't think it'll last.
Nice and sunny here at the moment, as has been since I got up around 7am, but I don't think it'll last either, as snow showers are predicted for later.

At this time of year I find myself saying its April and it feels like winter. I think it was about 3 degrees last night and its peaking at 6 today with dull windy weather.....horrible
I do suffer from seasonal disorder and am supposed to be feeling more of the joys of spring
The weather in this country is not good...the winters seem to develop later and then seem to drag on till August :D Then we get a piss poor summer...a quick indian summer and the weather starts heading downhill towards winter again.
Ive got no idea why we havent all effed off to Spain. last one out switch the lights off will ya.

After a day working in the sunshine last week, I looked in the mirror that evening and my head was glowing, I looked like a match.
Gritters went past our house last night, not a good sign. This morning had to scrape windscreen, now it's just pissistantly raining :(
Freezing cold, raining, blowing a gale.
Same here, and has been so since around 11am... And because of that, the wood burner's been roaring away since!:)

It's been a nightmare day today in sunny Portsmouth
Had a dentist appointment and got drenched walking from the car
Another filling with no injection... boy that one really did make me cry though... :doh:
fairly bright with sunny periods.. 8c at mo but should get a bit warmer. breezy tho

Wednesday and Thursday were right-offs, yesterday not much better, but today's lovely and sunny, and not too cold at 8°C... Feels warmer in the sun:)

It's been gloomy all day but not too cold. Had a lovely bonfire because the breeze was coming from the NE which blows the smoke across the fields and not annoying the people up the road.

You, and the adolescent boy in the house across from yours - he's been waiting all winter for this! And those binoculars his mum got him for Christmas (for bird spotting if you can believe that) will finally come out of the box :)
Yesterday was lovely... Took the campervan to the Lake District for the night. Nice and warm in the daytime and not cold at all last night, running a little electric radiator in the van took any edge off.

I don't know why I still keep those around, you can only read the front and back covers, the rest of 'em's stuck together.
And you're absolutely right about the tired wrist - mine is suffering from RSI and is completely knackered. So I've switched to my left, as per Barry's recommendation (and I've no reason to doubt his expertise in this matter) :)
I spoke to my practice nurse about this, and she thinks it won't be long before my left wrist suffers the same fate, in which case I should return and we'll come to an "arrangement". Free prescriptions these days, so could be quite a bargain :eyebrows:

What campervan do you have Rich? I once owned the original VW rear engine campervan and Colin had the later rear engine VW (I think it was a Danbury conversion) .... that'd make it the type 2 ?

It's a 2007 T130 2.5l. Camper conversion was done by Leisuredrive of Bolton, it's a bit fuddy duddy on the interior but I'll get that sorted in time. I'd upload a pic if only I knew how?

It's become another preoccupation and I intend to use it for fests and band stuff, as well as weekends away with the Mrs. Allowing me to indulge my passion for live music further. Hence I'm not really doing anything of note with the hifi or changing much. I've a bunch of gear that works well enough at the moment, it's just my attention seems to be elsewhere.
Also changed jobs (again) last year and getting to grips with a more challenging role. Supporting Mrs B as much as possible as she embarkson her new ventures following the closure of the business she works for. Add to that some additional responsibility for the ageing parents and you wonder where the time all goes don't you.
It's overrated this whole 'grown up' thing isn't it.

been getting below 0 temps here at night. but been decent most days... made about 9c again and was a bit better today. may be a bit better again tomorrow. hoping my back is a bit better so i can get into car
Been sunny all day here, still is, but the wind cuts right through you. Forecast is down to zero tonight, max tomorrow 9C.
Think there were only a handful of nights last winter where if went below zero here. Deffo not typical for mid-April. April is usually chilly here, but not freezing.

I was freezing my brass monkeys off today.
I dont know what hellhole on Earth is sending these icy winds. Its been clear skies and sunny today but has only peaked at 8 degrees.
That says it all really.
Forecast to pick up this week temp wise. Should be warm and sunny over Easter.

Well, here it's currently 19°C and rather lovely! We're using the opportunity to get some gardening done and then having a nice barbecue later:)
Fortunately, at least as indicated by the forecast, the weather is set to get even warmer for the weekend, with Sunday in particular being a lovely day, which is handy as I'll be inviting my dad round for a slap-up meal and (lots) of drinkies, as it'll be the end of Lent!:yay:
Therefore, I'm looking forward to our first proper family lunch 'al fresco' for months:cool:

its coming in two pieces. one will be simmered in stock and herbs for ever until it just falls apart. the other will get roasted, if i can manage it in micro oven. should work as its just an electric oven after all. Just never tried it before. if i dont feel confident i will freeze

yup i usually do but ordered in advance as my back was causing issues at time and didnt fancy fighting off the crowds with their kids in tow at shops over easter. so let my fingers do the walking. I get free deliveries, but i use it for the boy's shopping as it was becoming too much for me, doing both his and mine. His is pretty much the same every time anyway.
I go out to various places for my own and enjoy it as its just for me, and i try to pick quiet times, like you. that way i get fresh every couple of days, in any shop i fancy

We did most of our shopping yesterday when it was quiet, so just the fish to get today for Sunday, which we've just been and got. The king scallops look gorgeous!
You don't eat seafood though, do you?

Glad you're busy, if that's what you want, but it would be nice to have a classier customer base. I supposed that's not really possible when you're selling UPVC windows!:D;)

It's been absolutely gorgeous in Portsmouth today....
Had a pedi first thing then sat in the garden getting my vitamin D top up... I love the heat.. :eek:
It was too hot to go out midday, but became more bearable around 3 to 4 'o clock.
Went out for a long walk and on the way back popped into a pub for a beer. There wasn't anywhere to sit outside, so had to sit inside. Unfortunately there was a football match being shown on at least a half dozen TVs, and the volume was too loud. Couldn't even loose myself in the crossword as I had forgotten to take a pen with me!

Had an absolutely fabulous weekend, well Friday to Sunday at the paramotor fly-in, the conditions were fabulous for flying.
I had 5 flights totalling 4 and a half hours, though that was lightweight compared to one of the pilots who clocked up 14 and a half hours.
I even overflew one of the members houses and took some photographs. Ooh err>

I've just shaved me back, so now I'm "beach ready" :) Just have to check the tide tables though, last time I got it wrong and the lifeguard politely informed me that I'll have to move as the tide wants to come in.

I'm sure it is but I hate having to dismantle my food before I can eat it. Also can't be doing with all that 'rocket' stuff piled on everything. And I prefer American style 'French Fries' to the 'hand cut' things. There was this great documentary some years ago where they followed some yank tourists around. They went in a pub for lunch and ordered battered cod with handcut chips, there was a few 'WTF?' moments when it arrived. One of them had brought her own food because she had read that in England all we eat is badgers and squirrels.

Same here, or what's known as 'skinny fries'. Good places often offer both, of which the pub in question is one, as chips are made fresh from scratch:) I think what was shown in the pic were actually sweet potato wedges, as they were too orangey to be chips.
For me, the most important thing with food is that it tastes/looks good, so with burgers, I'd far rather have to 'dismantle' a few things, which themselves taste very nice (such as onion rings), if the burger itself is of high quality, than have some limp, thin excuse of processed crap, posing as a 'burger', which doesn't need dismantling, but that will taste rubbish in comparison!:cool:

Well, for me some (home-made) onion rings, coleslaw and salad aren't "crap"; they're desirable and tasty accompaniments to enjoy with a good burger, and worthy things in their own right. However, if it we're talking about some stodgy frozen onion-rings and a dollop of limp lettuce, then you can keep them!;)
For me, everything put on a plate should be of the same quality, and edible, not just the 'main event', as it were.

Last weekend I stripped a load of ivy from the old garden fences, in readiness for me building some new fencing. To save myself making a mess of the car I decided to burn the ivy. Bad idea! Who knew living ivy would make so much smoke?
Anita had the bright idea to stuff it all into a single quilt cover then take it to the tip - made the job a piece of piss, and no hoovering the car afterwards. She's not as daft as she looks :)

Civic just had its valet yesterday, by our mobile man, so you'd never guess it was a bin-car a few days ago. That's the trouble with having a hoity-toity motor like the Brabster - one speck of dust and it's ruined :D

Lol - that's the thing about black as a colour, which the Brabster is, inside and out, it shows up everything! Mind you, you'll be familiar with that and your 'unfortunate stains', whilst wearing black frillies. As they say: black gussets 'take no prisoners'!:eyebrows:

My black gussets have plenty of prisoners, all shaped like crabs.
But you're right, 'unfortunate stains' are a real problem - why are they NEVER the same colour as their host? I reckon the bloke (or lady) who invents a fabric which can change colour to match an arriving stain will get rich overnight. :) Just think, no need to inspect duds for skiddies - if they're brown, in the wash basket they go!

Excellent! Raining here now, to fair in the afternoon. Going a run to the dump, sorry, recycling centre to clear the garage a bit. With any luck there’ll be somebody throwing out old Radford amps or the like that I could lend a hand to :whistle:

If you want good stuff at car boot sales, go to ones in 'posh' countryside or coastal areas....;)
You want somewhere that's free from oiks/chavs, and where there are lots of big old houses, which 'posh folks' are clearing out. We went to a car booty in Peebles once, which was superb. Peebles is a lovely wee place. Not too far from you - a nice wee drive in your car on a sunny day:)
Ones we've been to in North Berwick and Gullane (one of my favourite coastal towns in Scotland - some beautiful and unspoiled beaches there) were great, too!
