Is it time to remove some of the old trade listings ?

Some go back to 2014 with nothing posted since and they clutter up the trade section.

Hi Dave,

Yes, good idea, but who's got the time to go through it all and do it? Not me!;)

All traders should have their permissions set so that they have the ability to edit or delete their old threads and posts, without a time limit (and if that's not the case let me know and I'll sort it), so feel free to remove your old listings, as suggested, and that also applies to other traders:cool:

No worries, Ollie. Could you link me here to an old thread you're trying to edit, so I can sort it? Cheers:)

Its only this thread so I can keep the prices and products up to date.

Seems there's a gremlin in the system, which we'll sort out later this evening, so bear with us:)

I meant removing all the dealers who haven't posted for some years. There is a long list of dealers and only half, maybe, are current but enjoying a free listing.

Marco

Ah ok, I already had plans to do that. I'll do it when I get a chance. In the meantime Dave, could you check that you have the ability to edit your old listings, and let me know?

Probably me being a numpty but I can't find any way to do that..

Marco

Ha - that suggests the relevant buttons weren't available for you to do it. Have a look now - and that applies to you too, Ollie. All should be fixed:)

Could all traders, particularly Ollie and Dave, as they've just been discussing it, confirm that they now have the ability to edit or delete their old listings? Cheers!

I can delete my replies but not the whole listing.

I am not able to remove other member's replies.

The last bit is normal and expected, Dave. However, you should be able to edit or delete anything you've posted in your trade room. Are you sure you're using the controls correctly?

No, not sure but I have spent some time trying to delete whole threads, without success. Quite a few of them are not relevant now.

Hi Grant.

There are many to delete so I have pushed the delete buuton on a few of the oldest to see how it goes. I can't delete any which end with other people's comments.

Is it possible to delete some of the very old, inactive posts in the trade section ? Some of these go back to 2014, 2015 etc with nothing posted since and it would be tidier and easier to navigate the section with these removed.

Marco

Hi Dave,

Yes it's possible, but getting time to go through them all and do it is another matter;)

Tell you what, I'll give you temporary moderator rights, and if you want, you can go through them and delete them... If that appeals, let me know:)

Marco.

hifi_dave

It does appeal but have no idea what that involves and being a computer numpty, I would probably struggle.

Marco
05-11-2019, 15:32
Lol... Best not give you the controls then, in case you make an arse of it:D

Exactly. I might just delete everyone except me..
