Hi, my Garrard 401 mains lead is currently hardwired to the unit but I as I have just bought a PSU, I now need to introduce an IEC socket (fitted in plinth). My question is, can I simply cut the existing cable to size and solder it to the relevant IEC terminals? Thanks in advance!

Get a male IEC plug/socket and wire that in place of the UK plug. You can then connect the male and female end together without doing any major alterations to the TT. May also be useful if you want to sell it in the future.

Male from TT

Female from PSU

Thanks! Of course, that makes a lot of sense..No worries. Just keeps things nearer original and is a lot easier. Glad to have helped.

Leave it hardwired why would you want another layer of cabling affecting the power supply into the 401?

...Because it's the only way to connect the PSU which has a female IEC connection

Which PSU are you using? I use Phoenix Engineering and I'm still hard wired.

It’s Longdog Audio’s psu mkii for Garrard/lenco- I think I’m the first buyer:-) in the meantime Nick put me on to this, so can stay hardwired:https://m.thomann.de/gb/neutrik_nac3fcb_powercon.htm
