The AoS folks should have arranged to meet up. I did get to meet Alan (firebottle) after having spoken and emailed him many times. Let's just say he could not have been missed in a large crowd.

Really enjoyed the show and the very good systems put together by people. Spent ages in some.

This year there were loads of systems based on active speakers.

Interesting 'suitcase' challenges.

To give an idea of what arranging a meet up of AoS members would be like:

Sorry I'm late to this, daftee! Anyway, glad that you had a good day and successful time at the show. No doubt your system sounded great, as indeed it usually does!

A most enjoyable few hours, I think Al's was my favourite, Anita's was some dude with speakers made from Corian. But overall more interesting to me than when it's traders doing it.

Mrs. Pony had a good time too, her exact words were "not as bad as I thought it would be, I expected it to be more geeky". From her that's praise indeed :)

Marco

Lol, those are usually Del's comments, whenever I take her to such events! You've got a good one there though, Steve. Not many women would want to be dragged round a hi-fi show, but those that do clearly care for their partners, by showing an interest in their hobbies, not just selfishly themselves...

Similar conclusions can be reached when you're invited to a bake-off at someone's house, and 'her indoors' disappears for the day/evening, or not, as the case may be;)

Whoile having a brew in the café there, we did a bit of 'Spot the women', and it went something like "there's one, oh wait, she's wiping down tables", and "What about that one?" "Nah, she's pulling pints".

It can be quite amusing to hear a 'female perspective' on these things. At Cranage last year, she said of those nice Kralk speakers, "They had speakers like them at my dad's Labour Club", and described Audio Note's fancy wood finish speakers as "Looking like SpongeBob Squarepants".

I think Anita, and Shirley (Mrs. Firebottle) probably accounted for about 30% of the attendees. Maybe I'll wear my posh frock next year, shake things up a bit :)

Firebottle

Same here Alan, always nice to see a friendly face when away from home, even when that face is atop an outfit that's louder than the music :D

The N7B's sound is however difficult to describe because there is no "sound" - just pure musical bliss.

No greater compliment as far as i'm concerned. You just couldn't ask more of any piece of your kit:thumbsup:

You are very welcome Al :) - as you know, I’m pretty jaded when it comes to hi-fi but myself and my two friends all thought you achieved excellent results. I was really impressed with the way that John Wood amp of yours controlled the bass of the vintage Mordaunt Shorts. I meant to come back and listen to the Sony amp - but then completely forgot :(.

Marco.

This came from a heads up from a forum member , I won't say who as he had no knowledge of the amp working condition .

When I enquired " Does it work OK ? " I was told the owner said " yes it does , but may benefit from a look at " I purchased the amp and low and behold straigt away it was obvious it had big problems , I stopped using it for over 2 yers , Then when I has some spare ££££ Sent it up to too two Mike Powel , Very pleased with the outcome now its sort of run in , Again faverable comments at the show , It is a plain Jane looks wise , I quite like it , does everything need to be in your face looks wise ?
