Despite trying a couple of new belts I am still unable to change the speed on my Thorens TD160 without taking the platter off and moving it by hand, so in search of a solution I am now in the market for a speed controller that is compatible with my TT. A Pro-ject Speedbox SE or somethind similar would be ideal.

Thanks
Phil

Are the motor/pulley and belt guide OK and at the right relative heights?

Initially i thought it was because i was using an old belt but i have discovered that the belt guide doesnt come up to the full height when using the switch. It comes up about 75% of the way and then i have to nudge it up the final 25% to get the belt into the right position.

Sounds like the linkage may need a tweak or the guide may need bending slightly to achieve best position. I've had to do this in the past.
