Vinyl Studio

I am having a trial of this program, with a view to recording my vinyl. My new Phono stage can do this at various bit rates. Just started my first one, and will see how it goes. if it works reasonably I will get it I think. The Screens seem well laid out.
Anyone using this?

No I have not used Vinyl Studio, I have done the same with Audacity which may not be quite so intuitive but has lots of feature and gives good results IMO. I usually just record a whole side and then spilt it up into the individual tracks and then do the other side and then save to the digital format I want. I mainly do this for albums I want to have with me in the car.

Just purchased it mate. Impressed enough with the trial version. Ive lots of stuff on vinyl thats not on cd etc so can flac them and listen as files.

I have also been digitising some of my vinyl that never made it to cd, particularly my world music titles and compilations. I have been using one of these which I bought last year. http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0812/parasound_zphono_usb.htm

The Parasound allows recording with and without RIAA equalisation with the option to add EQ via software later. I tried Vinyl Studio and thought it very good but found Audacity a bit more flexible. I am also a registered user of Total Recorder Professional which does much the same thing. Although I have yet to start this project in earnest, I have been very surprised at the quality of the ripped files compared to the vinyl originals.

Looks to be similar to my project unit. I got an acceptable result without digging deep or doing much and with the trial version of software so think I can improve on it with some effort.

Think I can do the curves or do them digitally as well. Can also do 78's without playing at 78 apparently.
There is a lot in this package and my phono so might as well take advantage of it

Oh I've ordered a big hdd too to take the extra data so should be able to go up to 24/192 if I wish.
It's a 6tb usb3.

I use it and find it very straightforward in operation.

I like the way it can download the track names, splits and covers from discogs.

Its then a simple matter to just adjust the track gaps and the resultant flac files sound really good using a Schitt Jil as an ADC.

Worth every penny :)

OK Whats a ADC :scratch:

analogue to digital convertor... opposite of a dac. you might be able to without but i would think it needed. my phono stage does all its itself. program is fairly easy; must be if i can use it ;)

I’ve been using vinyl studio for many years via a Furutech GT40a.

Once you your get the hang of it you can also get rid of clicks scratches and nasty background noise on old lps.

A second hand Rega phono a2d is a nice cheap easy way to get into digitising lp’s.

I got a copy of Vinyl Studio with my NAD PP4 ADC and covered various aspects of its use on my blog at the time.

I was sufficiently keen on it to buy a full copy when I sold my NAD on - after digitising some irreplacable vinyl. It's bee useful for a variety of tasks including making up 'mix tapes' and burning them to CD

is the first part. De-clicking/noise reduction and track splitting are covered in parts II and III. I never completed the section on burning. Seriously good software once you've got used to the way of working (and the non-Mac interface for Apple users). Manually editing clipped waveforms with the smoothing tools was a revelation.

Hi, I started using Vinyl Studio about 18 months ago. Purchased a Bluesound Wireless audio system for the home so needed something "easy" to use to digitize my vinyl collection (1300+ titles) for adding to the Bluesound system.
Am very happy with the results. Converted to Flac files. The software captures the cover art also. Did not get into any cleanup of clicks & pops or changing or modifying the audio files in may way except for the "tags"...to edit those I used MP3Tag. That worked well also. Used a Pro-Ject Debut Black Carbon turntable with a Grado Gold cartridge through a NAD PP4 (USB) Phono Pre-Amp. for access to my PC.
Anyway again very happy with the results and is very inexpensive....around 30 bucks if I can remember,,,but that is getting harder these days.....CRS......LOL

The pro version is about 45£ now. Very good tho. The declicker like everything else is very adjustable and all edits are non destructive
