Which one, and why?

The Beatles "White Album" (OK, it's two discs, but I could compress it to one if I exclude "Honey Pie", "Don't Pass Me By", "Obladi Oblada", "Bungalow Bill", and, in a pinch, "Good Night").

Why? I can never get tired of it. It is a veritable encyclopedia of Western music. It is what good music is all about.

And also, no one, and I mean no one, ever came close to its brilliance. With the passage of time, "White Album" slowly emerges as the towering achievement of the Western music.

Superb live album by a band at the height of it's creative powers. What a mighty and powerful performance.

An utterly impossible decision for me to make. If forced, it would probably be something from my youth: early Beatles or Stones, or maybe Beethoven.

I don't know I can say only one, but Tangerine Dream's "Rubycon" would have to be pretty close to the top of the list.

Hmm. Difficult one this, there's artistes I love - The Waterboys, Jackie Leven, The Smiths, Sparks - but for me, there's one album I never ever tire of listening to...

Kind Of Blue - Miles Davis

This record has helped so many people to move on and cross that bridge from banal everyday pap to looking at new musical horizons and beyond It also involves some of the most respected musicians of our time, all masters of their instruments. Every track was and still is class!

This thread has been troubling me since it started - I couln't possibly choose one single album to take. (Actually on DIDiscs, it's 8 pieces of music, so ordinarily you wouldn't even be allowed a whole album!)

If I had to decide on one single album, it might have to be something that I've always found inpenetrable, that I've never really got on with, in the hope that I could play it enough to begin to understand it. I still don't know what that disc would be though.
