Powering our audio track is a very important element. The current from the home network contains a number of "garbage" - disturbances, overvoltages, voltage drops or DC components. The problem is generated by various types of devices connected to this network - common impulse power supplies, chargers, refrigerators, televisions, washing machines .... etc. All these "garbage" should be filtered to ensure our system optimal working conditions, while protecting audio devices against DC components or overvoltages. And here comes the help offered by the Polish brand "Tomanek" - a TAP8 network strip, significantly improving the sound and our audio-ego by filtering devices, but without interfering with their electronic structure. It is a device that combines two important parameters in one solid casing - separations and a constant component reducer. The TAP 8 constructor assumed in what role the strip will work, thanks to which it was possible to lower its price and increase availability. He created a simpler and less expensive device. It turns out that this type of device does not have to be a heavy and expensive chest equipped with a number of rhodium nests, unattainable for most fans of good sound. As you can see, or rather "hear" for PLN 800, you can create a strip that provides a high degree of protection and separate filtration for each socket, eliminating the undesirable impact of equipment on the rest of the track.

Building

The construction was made very solidly from a uniform aluminum cast, powder coated with dimensions of 220 x 145 x 50 mm, which guarantees the strip very high mechanical strength and what is important - a significant reduction of electromagnetic interference, which we have a lot - low frequency disturbances, conductive disturbances radiated disturbances. The front has a solid IEC type socket that allows you to connect your favorite "chain". From the top, eight Schuko sockets were screwed (in two rows of four) allowing for "reversing" of the cable in the event of phase discrepancies in our devices. This arrangement also ensures stability and easy access to the slats. Six slat sockets are equipped with Schaffner anti-interference filtersa, the other two have DC blockers installed , without Schaffner filters . The load on the whole strip can not exceed 16A or 5A on a single socket. For most, it should be enough, but I do not conceal that it would be useful to increase this parameter in the future for owners of specific power amplifiers.
The whole is assembled on a very thick plate with wide copper tracks to better conduct current. It is possible to configure sockets, filters and other parameters freely. For this purpose, please contact the manufacturer directly - Tomanek. The following link to the manufacturer's website:

listening

I began listening to the power amplifiers from Belles and Bryston for sockets with DC blockers, under which we should connect devices with transformers. The tips have powerful 2000VA and 1500VA hits. The first thing you could see immediately was the temperature of the tips, both Belles (5 6 degrees) and Bryston (54 degrees) decreased the average temperature by 5 degrees Celsius (the same level of gain) compared to how they were directly attached to the socket in the wall (measurements I made a meter equipped with a temperature probe). Another "boon" of this slat is the quiet operation of the transformers. In Bryston, the silence of the poppy sowed from the new, Belles occasionally quietly "murmured." After connecting to the strip from DC BBelles' locker matched Bryston in the comfort of work - silence. The impact of the power strip (DC Blocker ) from the power amplifiers was rather subtle. Greater clarity and more pronounced transmission, especially in acoustic instruments. The colors of the instruments gained more realism. Another test - a lamp. Under DC blockers, I connected the PrimaLuna tube power amplifier and the PrimaLuna tube preamplifier. It is difficult to talk about the sounds of the transformer because these PrimaLuny do not even bother. But as in the case of transistors, the working temperature of the transformers themselves has also decreased. On the other hand, in listening to Primaluna, my attention was caught by the black background, or rather the noise reduction of this background. After unscrewing the reinforcementpre Primaluna on full in columns absolute silence - no noises, glitches or disturbances, which could be heard earlier due to the work of neighboring devices and their impulse power supplies plugged into the usual slat.
During the connection, I remembered that I have a tube transistor hybrid Fatman, which in the background always quietly brushed, whether on headphones or in columns. I dug up Fatman iTube (a very good headphone amplifier is installed there) from the cabinet and soon I connected it to the socket with DC Blocker-em. The effect - steady silent background in the background stopped. Well done, Mr. Tomanek, it works, it really works. Subsequently, I connected the Yamaha PX2 turntable, Marantz and Cambridge Audio streamer and the Sony network player. In the case of other devices, I connected the plugs to the sockets with Schaffner filters, where we should plug devices with pulse power supplies. When listening to a turntable, the filtered current supplies not only the drive, but also systems that support the analog section in the turntable and pre. The drive system, which consists of the motor and plate after connecting to the TAP8 Yamaha PX2 has clearly improved. As you can see, the carefully filtered current also has a positive effect on the stable operation of the engine used in PX2. I have obtained equally positive changes by combining TAP8 with preamplifier I Phono. Thanks to this, the sound presented by the Yamaha PX2 became clearer, especially in the upper regions of the acoustic band, and the bass took on a bit more contour. As for the sound of the bigger streamers, I have not noticed, apart from eliminating one of the Marantz's nails, NA8005. Well, when switching tracks, sometimes you could hear a quiet pop probably connected to the connected hard drive. After attaching it to the Schaffner filter socket, the unwanted effect disappeared. The nicest surprise, however, made me listen to the Sony HAP S1 headphone jack. Earlier, there were quiet disturbances related to the operation of peripheral devices. After connecting to TAP8, the interference stopped.
The application has only one - the TAP8 strip guarantees optimal working conditions for connected power amplifiers, players, pre, turntables, headphone amplifiers, streamers or tube devices, etc. The filters used very well eliminate all kinds of interference generated by each of the connected devices as well as those coming from the electricity network .... during the test
