What are they?

All I can find on the Web is from people trying to sell them so my default position is not to believe them.

Surely unless they somehow differ from each other all interconnects are balanced? It seems balanced one's have an earth cable plus two signal cables but how goes this improve sound?

My latest set up has balanced as an option on everything.
I’ve spent ages going between rca and balanced xlr.
Definitely quieter background noise with balanced, and better seperation of individual instruments but somehow rca sound more ‘organic’ and less forced- kinda more natural and easier to listen to.

Still swapping between them!

Another link to what i thought were interesting descriptions.
I used this as a guide some time ago, it has some easy to understand images and explanations.
