Oh dear ....:D
Have you tried scraping the terminals with a stanley knife blade to remove any possible crud/oxidisation. If you have a digital camera you can see if the sensor is working by taking a pic with one of the buttons on the remote pressed and you should see a pulsing white light through the camera's viewer screen.

Thanks Rob, I had no idea that you could use a phone camera, and the article was an interesting read as well [emoji106]

Hopefully you can get inside the remote without any cosmetic damage as its usually dirty contacts which need a clean
I have loads of remotes and try and get a few of them learned on my Philips RU 865 universal.
Remotes do fail and damn you Samsung for not making it easy to get into the TV remote without marking it...for the sake of four screws these push fit remotes can be really awkward to get into.
I have found every remote Ive ever needed on ebay
Easiest way to get into them is to use a palette knife or thin bladed something to prize the thing apart. One of the old type table knives from the 50s with the bakelite looking handles works well.

We've all probably done it at sometime or another, I do regularly with TV and Blu-ray remotes.
