tron convergance pre amps and mono blocks

i notice Tron have launched some kit , there is quite a bit on here about the phono stage

has anyone reviewed these products or tried them ?

Launched a couple of years ago the TRON Convergence phono stage has been joined by a "Signature" version which has selected parts fitted for even better sound. A matching Preamplifier has also been developed and this is now available together with a 50-watt Stereo amplifier, plus a pair of 50-watt mono amplifiers.

I had a Convergence phono for a couple of years and would have tried the upgrade had it been around. Marketed as being a good value stage vs those twice the price and a reasonable case to be made for that. Quite a quiet stage, tended to be best in the mid-range but not the last word in accuracy. though you might expect this in a stage at the price. Very easy to discuss your needs with the manufacturer direct though and worth a trial if you fancy a stage at about a grand. Very few available s/h at present which might mean a lot of satisfied customers.

If you don't/can't expect accuracy for £1k, I think you're looking in the wrong place for equipment. The Tron does have good quoted RIAA accuracy figures. GT provided them a while back.

I had a Tron convergence in my system for approximately 3 weeks (05/17). These days, for £1k, there are other phonostages higher on my list although not many with valves in.

The Tron convergence is "good value" for those who want to get into the Tron brand. The Tron seven is super and I have no issue with that unit other than the price!!

I’ve noted that the Tron brand can generate divisive opinions but as both Oliver and I have personal experience of the Convergence then both of our opinions are equally valid. Before I got the Convergence I had loans of various phono stages which were more expensive and which I didn’t rate.

Horse, course, that sort of thing.

Anyway the thread is about different pieces of kit than I had so time to butt out I think.

I have heard a Tron Convergence MC in a friends system and it had very low noise - much lower that the Allnic he had before and lower than any other valve stage I have tried myself. I would also add that, in my view, it is more than competitive at the asking price.

i would love to put these power amps head to head with my firebottle hybrid mono`s . the latter are extremely good and would take some beating i feel

thanks charlie , good idea . one day perhaps but i do prefer trying them in my system as i am extremely sensitive to sound .i.e too bass heavy and too bright painful on the old ears . take a fair bit to beat the freya which is forensically transparent , especially in passive mode but does have a lightness and delicacy and realism

I have to say that after 45 years in this hobby I bought a Tron Seven and introduced it to my system.

It was a most enlightening introduction and probably ranks amongst the most significant upgrades I have ever made.

Sound wise, the TRON pre and power amps are up with the very best - they are often rated highly at RMAF and the Munich High End shows. This year the baby TRON Convergence phono stage and the TRON Atlantic 300B integrated were amongst the sounds of the show at RMAF.

I wasn’t altogether impressed by the Convergence phono preamp that came round to mine but then again it was at against an Aurorasound Vida at the time and there is a massive price disparity.

I did enjoy the Tron Seven preamp I heard. That’s something I’d like to try in my setup at some stage.
