So the SL10 arrived, nice looking thing positively tiny ... plugged in and sounded rubbish.

Cartridge was loose so I pushed it in .. better sounding. But no retaining screw to hold it in.

There's some kind of threaded insert in the little parallel tracking tonearm.

Bugger - any ideas on where to get the correct, threaded bolt for a 40 year old Technics SL10 turntable?

Some cartridges come with one but who knows if it's the right size and do I really want to spend £40 for a screw?

Spotted some specs here but I'm still none the wiser what to ask for.

You can borrow mine if you want Tom, or I can measure it for you

I might take you up on that Jake if I can't find anyone with a spare one or a pointer to where I can get hold of one from the UK.

I found this which may or may not be the right thread and screw size but would take a while to come from the US and not doubt the postage would be something silly.

You could try a p-mount adaptor. They might be the same.

I think it is just a P-Mount screw that you need.

Yes but where do I get one?

I think it is an M2 thread. They have a funny bit of turned down thread, but I think they just put that there to stop the screw falling out.

Clarkenwell Screws will have them.

If jake measures it, I’ll call in on my lunch break and grab you a couple.

[edit - oops. I thought that was a message]

Yes, M2 by the looks of it, 9mm long excluding the head. I’ll email you a pic Tom, trying to post it here but tinypic is being a massive weapon.

Hello Tom,
M2 indeed. I'll stick a few in the post for you.
