Ayre CD 7 is it too old ? Cd line transformer can Help ? New dac can help ?

I don't use too much My Ayre Cd 7 . I listen to it by an old Threshold ns 10 preamp . That Threshold preamp really works well with my turntables .

I 'd like to improve my CD system . Could my threshold pre Too old for the digital data ? Could my Ayre CD player benefit by a CD line transformer or by a new Dac . Is it my Ayre Cd 7 out of date ?
