I bought one a while ago but unfortunately it broke in the post. The valves on my Audioromy integrated seem to glow a bit bright. Does anyone have one they don't need anymore? (Or alternatively can adjusting bias make the valves glow less?)

Re-biasing won't alter the heater performance.

There is nothing special about a bucking transformer. You just need a 240 to 20V transformer of adequate rating, wired in the correct arrangement.

Fortunately it doesn't need to be the full rating of the amplifier as you are only 'bucking' about 12% of the total power.
A 20VA transformer is perfectly adequate for an amplifier with a 100VA power consumption. I have one or two that may be suitable.

What is the power consumption of yours Laurence?

The amp says 250w on the back. I've looked up the wiring diagram online and resoldered the wires on my broken one, it's wirking so far. If I can get a more robust one at some point that would be good though.

Oh also, it's the small valves that are glowing hot, would the bias affect their heaters?

If its a 220v Chinese amp it will light up brightly on our volts. It is advised to as you say get a bucker or a variac. I've got one currently on my japenese market pioneer amp. I built it up originally for one of those Audioromy amps

Mine's Audioromy, the sticker on the back says 240v but I don't trust these Chinese amps, I've heard of examples before saying 240v but wired for 220v. Not Audioromy mind you but given the bright heaters it's better to be safe.

Mine is a variac and great for lot of tasks. In fact I got the bare tx. From Mr firebottle.
Built it into a box. This amp is 110v pioneer I got off Mr arkless so good provenance lol.
Only 7, 8 watts or so I guess, but sounds very good. Was old stock. I fitted speaker posts to it
