One for you headphone users

I'm not a big headphone user and have just an old ( repaired ) set of Superlux HD66B headphones . It has been lying on the shelf for a few weeks and I decided to give it a try over the last few days . Well , IMO it has made the headphones infinitely more listeneable with what seems like a bigger soundstage and a smoother sound .
I may even start using my headphones more :) Well worth a try at the price :)

Me too! Im not really one for headphones but needs must for the foreseeable, so recently bought some beyerdynamic dt990s,studio version,they were £40 cheaper than standard:scratch: same headphones bar the curly cable. They're very comfy and sound good to me, but a cheap tweak has to be worth a go. Any idea how it works Brian?

Well it arrived today , unscrewed my 6.35mm adapter only to find the sonneteer needs a push on one:doh:

Yeah the 3.5mm end of the beyerdynamic cable fits fine into the sonneteer, even thought the 6.35mm adaptor is screw on, I've just ordered a push on adaptor so all will be well,fingers crossed:rolleyes:

Interesting post, Brian. I do almost all my listening on headphones, and although the Headspace appears to be designed for portable devices which I use infrequently, I'll give this a try. I'm not sure why it isn't listed on Sonnetter's main website, only on E-bay.

[The Headspace's price is very low compared to the Creative X-Fi].

I'll be putting it through its paces with Sennheiser HD 650s & HD 700s on the main HP system, and with an earbuds & portable combo. It seems so cheap that I wonder if they are trialing the thing to gauge the response of customers [?].

Well I'm now up and running . I think sonneteer are trying to get headphones to sound more like speakers with this gadget.thats not what I'm getting ,but it's changed my really nice headphones beyerdynamic dt990 pro,to something quite different. You know with headphones you get the sound in your head but you also hear it,bear with me:) now the music seems to bypass my lug oles and straight to my head and at the same time beyond my head:scratch: reading that back it sounds stupid, but that's the only way I can describe it:) it's a bit like going from speakers with a narrow ish sweet spot to speakers that go wider and higher and fill the room

I picked up my Headspace from Argos this afternoon and have been using it for a couple of hours now, and for me there's no doubt that the central claim that it 'makes your headphones sound like real loudspeakers [sic]' [made by Sonneteer on Pinkfish, December the 19th, 2018] has not been realized.

I started off on my main HP rig with solo piano works by Schumann and found a modest change in ambience, though it sounded odd where the damper pedal was engaged or released by the pianist, as if the damper board was situated some way form the actual instrument. . I'll persevere with it, but so far I don't expect it to have a permanent place in my 'best' HP chain. With this kind of music I thought that the Headspace did do something, though that something is not always very noticeable, and conversely that that something may not always agreeable. Using, to me, posh 'phones with a posh HPA the effect was negligible, to middling, to occasionally undesirable

I then plugged it into an I-Pod Touch and found the Headspace made a positive difference. Playing symphonic music, Mahler's Sy. No.6, the separation of instruments and the impression of the physical space occupied by the musicians seemed enhanced. While I couldn't say that I ever had the impression of listening to stand mounts or floor-standers rather than headphones, I think the device is worth hanging onto for portable use at least. I did notice the odd peculiar effect like a a single glockenspiel strike sounding detached from the sound-field, but overall I'd recommend the Headspace for use with portable devices, particularly given its very low price and small inconspicuous form.


These, for what they are worth, were my initial impressions [so the usual caveats in place, my 56 y.o. cloth ears and all.]

Using mine now whilst watching 2Doors Down,funny as f. With my headphones the difference is noticeable here too. I think its had a positive effect with my headphones, I'll give it a few weeks and then take it out too see:cool:
