FS: Tannoy 609 MkII speakers

I bought these Tannoy 609 MkIi speakers a few months back from Mauro, but my plans for them didn’t work out.

They sound superb but do need a fairly beefy amp of 40+w, valve or solid state, to come alive.

Surprisingly powerful and low bass from the 8in dual concentric drivers, with the usual Tannoy full image coherence from the DC driver. Make no mistake these are proper Tannoys.

I paid £90 for them and then paid another £35 shipped for the dedicated stands. Speakers and stands offered at £120, collection only from the Bracknell area.

I had a pair of these a few years ago in my 2nd system and was really impressed with them. I can confirm the sound quality, they really are rather good, and that dual concentric driver is pure Tannoy........lovely detail, soundstage and quite powerful. Bargain for some one. Glws

I sold mine to a friend and he uses them daily, even for the TV sound. They are still going strong. Thought these would fly, proper Hi-Fi.

Don't be deceived by the compact look of these, these are 8in drive units and quite chunky for standmounts. They also do bass.

Hi montesquieu,

What kind of condition are these in?... I ask as I have a pair of completely mint 607s (which I bought new), but I'll only replace them with speakers equally as pristine.

Are there any grilles with them?
