As the new year is nearly apon us what plans do you have for 2019 ?
One of my goals is to try ( Note I said try ) and reduce the amount of kit I have as it out of control ,
Wish me luck :D

I have two goals:
1/ finally finish my turntable
2/ update my Paradise

I may have a third that involves rebuilding my speaker crossovers, but that’s not very high on my list.

Unforeseen stuff also tends to happen too - like potentially replacing most of my amplification - a new sub etc.
Sort me bleedin' so-called main speakers out with something that works better in this room!!!!!
sell off most of my spare speakers... they wont cost who comes too much but i could do with the room so spare room becomes a room again. no plans in concrete yet but might think of an endgame amp, or a pre for what i have. im going to be a bit better off next year so i might find funds

I have a TAD CD/DAC/Pre, TAD power amp, (testing) TAD speakers, Coherent mains cables and interconnects (testing some) with the remarkable RTZ grounding box.
The Rega Isis was wonderful as were the Belles Pre and monos. The RTZ lifts everything

Paradise gets a good name. If One had money it's probably the one to go for

Continue trying to fulfil 'the needs' of my vintage hifi collection! Top of that list being receivers Pioneer SX-1980, Sanyo JCX 2600/2900, Technics SA-1000, and tuner Sansui TU-X1. Anything similar of that standard considered! I gave up chasing perfection some years ago and went back to my 'youth' when hifi had dials and meters and lights and wooden surrounds. Oh yes, and excellent sound and specs!

Done all of my planned upgrades this December (Speakers, Beresford DA, Van Damme Interconnects) so sit back and listen to the improvements.
Got some Tannoy Ardens due to turn up at some point hopefully in the not too distant future.
Need to get my Technics SLP1200 cd player fixed (stops playing after track 6) Also got a Sony X505ES player that needs looking at.
Might think about putting some fancy resistors in my pre-amp.
That's about it really. Not actually really needing to do anything, I've already got the sound how I like it and the quality level is more than sufficient. But you've got to tinker haven't you? It's what it's all about.

Paradise will have to wait. In a moment I will put my money with a Croft Micro Riaa R.
In my future I see:
- a Croft Riaa RS, with later modifications taking it higher as funds and Glenn Croft permit
- a Paradise stage - but I will need to save up for a while
- an EAR 324 - probably just a figment of - what EA Poe called - fancy.

Finish upgrading the Sondex S100 amp.
Mod the 301 with Cherry plinth and decoupled arm pods.
Maybe hunt down and modify a Garrard 401 motor for experimentation on my 301.
Add a new PSU to my Lenco L75.
Mod my Croft Epoch to dual mono PSU & further regulation to PSU/Valves.
Buy any piece of kit that takes my fancy.

Maybe a new cartridge (MC?) for the 401, think it deserves better than the Nagaoka MP110 currently on it (although I'm happy enough with the sound it makes) :scratch:

Roy, I too have a Nag MP 110, and know that my system deserves(?) better, but am quite pleased with how good it sounds at the moment, that I can hardly really care about moving up that ladder. I am sure I will in given time, but it satisfies for now!

I'm not feeling the need for major changes atm, very happy and a bit wary of change just for the sake of it. -- yes, this really is me. :D
Very conscious that I nearly made a major boo-boo when I 'upgraded' the valves in my Herron pre. ... I nearly sold it before realising that the pre's magic was dependent on the stock EH valves. :doh: I might try some gold pin EH in 2019.
A couple of bits are on the way from China - a linear PSU for my W4S reclocker, and a grounding box as I have been intrigued by the very positive comments on these devices by a couple of folks.
Might also invest in the top of the range W&M speaker cables as I really like the cheaper ones already in my system.
Perhaps 2019 will be a year of consolidation, making the best of a system that already hits the spot.

I want to downsize to the simplest, reasonable quality system that I can build / afford.
So, that will likely be Technics SP-10, Doge 6 CDP, Nak BX300E, fooed up Chinese DAC, into Marantz PM-4, into my Kralk TDB-2 speakers.
My Remtek phono and N.E.W. A60 Power Amp will be moved on but I'll prolly keep the TVC pre.
Hifi-wise: keep most of what I've got and sell off/give away a few surplus bits and bobs.
Non-hifi-wise: the TV's just packed in, so we'll need to get a new one. It took us two years to decide on a new sofa, so I'm thinking this won't be a quick or easy purchase.

No plans as such, but if I see a Sansui TUX1 I would be tempted if the price isn't crazy, which more than likely it will be.
Wood plinth for my 401 to try, and that's about it.
To the unknown stuff, I look forward to it coming along.
Planning on moving my hi-fi into a dedicated room, will run a dedicated 10mm supply, and be able to use room treatment properly (already got some 2 metre high .8 metre wide corner acoustic panels for it).
Optimising everything, then possibly balanced mains, curious about grounding box - that seems to be a can of worms on here. Maybe have time for a four way active speaker build.

My goal is to move on some more of the vintage gear I still have - too much to mention.
I dunno. Maybe get a streamer. Sell some surplus stuff (an item that's been on my 'to do' list for several years).

Having promised I’d settle with a simple integrated and finding two very good ones I’ve thrown myself a right curve ball by buying a Gordon Welford preamp. It’s clearly world class, so I plan to have some fun playing with power amps to see what matches best.
Can’t see myself changing source much, as the SL10 is a great deck whilst we have a young family and the Lampi dac is a killer.
I should probably buy posher speakers, but I’m still in love with the XL Frugalhorns. They just sound so right here.

The LS-02 speaker cables are excellent - best I've heard in my system.
I've a pair of the top o' the range LS-06 on the way
Not heard their interconnects (yet). They don't seem to come along much in the UK - I had to order the LS-06 new from a French dealer.

Well, with my new speakers I am now unhappy with my FM sound which screeches the top end even more than did the original ESS Heils, The ADAM Heils go up to 50k.
So I am questioning the AVI s200 Mk ii tuner, and mad though it is considering a Magnum Dynalab one, yes even for maybe two years. Does anyone have one, and are they really that spectacular?

See, cables, they've always been an "as long as they're not absolute bargain basement they're good enough" thing to me, until I recently bought some Audience Ohno speaker cables, money burning a hole and all that. They delivered a real and positive improvement and now I'm not quite such a sceptic :/
Apart from a fairly extensive loudspeaker modification, nothing.

Well don't sell off the ANC cables straight away, in case you want to go back to them. I've not tried the ANVx, but any silver cables I have used have had a tendency to be a bit 'vivid' with some equipment.

Of course not Jerry, but a wider capability often implies a greater ability to do less extreme things better.
I am in no doubt that the new speakers easily beat my own attempts, at 1/20th the cost, hardly surprising.
My concern is the improvement with a Dynalab if at all.

Now that I have the Croft Riaa R in the house and have decided that my turntable set-up is yet again on par with my digital set-up I am certain that I will want to upgrade to Croft Riaa RS sooner or later. The Croft Riaa R sound signature is a bit darker than through my DAC but my two main sources are equally enjoyable.
Also since I wrote my first post here I have discovered another "would like to try" item - a Magnepan DWM woofer (or two) to supplement the bottom end of my Quad ESL 57s. I should be able to connect it in parallel with the Quads just like I would if I had stacked Quads ESL 57s. In my small room I should get plenty of bass.
I also see a better outboard psu for my Thorens TD 147 Jubilee as well as an original Jubilee outer platter in anodised black. I would also like an original Thorens TP63 arm wand with golden Thorens lettering. The last two items are not upgrades but just nice to have for photo-shoots ... ;)
Other than that ... lots of music on FLAC and Vinyl.
