Going to collect a pair after Christmas. Has anyone here heard them? Would love to hear their bigger brother, the A1.

S.Not heard those specific speakers or their larger brother but I am very complimentary of the SL6, DL6 speakers.

Yep i own a pair of Compact A1's and they are excellent value for money..

I was selling a pair of A1s on here a while ago, didn't bump as I'm still not sure I'm doing the right thing especially as I've just sold a couple of pairs of speakers.

They're very good speakers, they have a lovely balanced sound across the frequency range and there is no metallic hardness from the metal dome. Surprisingly they work nicely near the wall in my small room despite being rear ported. One key thing to look out for is dimples in the tweeter, or evidence they have been pushed in and reformed again.

I have a pair and use them with a sub. really nice sound for me. Very balanced and the sub pulls things together nicely. I f the tweeters have 3 bars across them they are less likely to have been damaged.

They are 87 db rated 4 ohm. max power 100 watts . I drove them with a linn classik rated at 70 wpc into 4 ohms and they sounded fone. However when I switched to the fb monos there was a noticable jump in performance so i would saybthey like a bit of power up them.

I did , had them for almost 10 years. They were very 'amp fussy', I don't know if that's true of the smaller models as well.

S.Mine sound lovely with a 40wpc EL34 amp at moderate volumes, so not as bad as many.
