View Full Version : Glass fuse query
I need a glass fuse as one has blown in my speaker. It says Buss AGC 3 250V on it. Think it’s a Bussman fast blow 3A.
The blown wire in it is ‘wiggly’.
I can’t find the exact same one to buy but ive found some with the same specifications but they have a straight wire inside.
Dumb question, but would they be ok?
Thanks

As long as they're fast blow 3A then you are fine.

If the wire inside is curly then it is a slow blow or anti-surge fuse.
This is generally what you’ll find in a loudspeaker so that the fuse doesn’t blow every time the orchestra’s percussionist whacks the tympani enthusiastically...
I believe you own Shahinian speakers and it does say on their website that it is a 3A quick blow fuse. I should add that the idea of using a fuse to protect the speakers is a very dated idea and pretty universally thought to affect the sound negatively.

If they were mine I would bypass the fuse and many owners (who can solder anyway) do.
