Hi all,

I am selling my phonostage due to excessive heat in my system. Now the DCB1 is running at 1.2A, it is not ideal having valves directly underneath it. Unfortunately, i am left with little option but to rethink the casework and placement of the phonostage.

What i am offering is the opportunity to own a phonostage thats Circuitry was designed by Firebottle, PCB designed by JP64 (well known on DIYAudio) and constructed by me! lol.

The construction has been checked by Alan, and is of perfect working order.

So, as with the DCB1, i am either going to:

A) Sell the phonostage as a whole

or

B) Reuse the guts for a rebuild into another chassis, which will fit on one of my IKEA shelves!!

Either of those options if fine with me so this really is about whether you want to own a phonostage that i believe hangs with the likes of phonostage you'd buy at around £1.5K. This is not entirely 'just' opinion, it has been tested but not as fully as id like.

So, what do you get for your money?

Steel chassis with Mu-metal divider to isolate the transformer
Toroidy.pl Audio grade Transformer
Neutrik isolated RCA sockets
Vishay Resistors (Where Possible but all 1% tolerance metal)
Vishay Capacitors (Where Possible, all polypropelene)
Nichicon Axial capacitors (Where possible)
An LED that's been carefully dimmed for night listening acceptance
PCC88 - Telsa 10< hours
ECC83 - Telefunken 10<
PCC88 - Tesla <10

All valves are dolphin friendly and more importantly, sourced from Watford valves meaning they are legit!

Any Demo is welcome. Bring your current phonostage and have a compare before you decide!

Delivery is realistically limited to Couriers at your arrangement.

Collection is definitely preferred.

So on to the price......

This build cost me around £450 BEFORE i put any valves in it. The Telefunken was about £90 alone so all in it cost about £550

I'd like the £450 back to build the next one.

There you have it. Buy it and be very happy or leave it here and i will dismantle it and rebuild in a smaller case. I am happy with either.

There will be no reductions on this as i don't need to sell it to fund what i want to.

Lot of air in that there chassis, would it sound as good in half size chassis?
Looks lovely though, if I’d not spent ££ recently I’d have it.

MandIt's definitely the wrong side of Christmas for most people I know, but I'm not planning on doing the rebuild until the new year so there is plenty of time.

Yes, lots of room which was a bonus. It doesn't have to massively smaller. I can get away with a 300mm width case which is only 100mm smaller.

I think it will be absolutely fine! Or I wouldn't risk doing it.

Yep, new build will have smaller case, more vents.

Temp on this one is fine, had the laser temperature gauge on it all and no worries to be had.

Looks like I'll be pulling the RCA sockets and the Transformer off this build for the next. Shame to dismantle it.

How is this still here? Must be the Christmas effect.

Anyway, it is still here regardless of the nibbles of interest so not to late to grab a Christmas bargain.

Final drop, no point going any lower.

Hi Oliver , Seeing your new avatar , Are you trade now ?

:christmas:Hi Al,

No mate, not trade. I just have my fingers in a few pies and thought it might be helpful if everything was under a name. So people were aware of where it is coming from really.

Cables, phonostages, PCBs etc
