Grado Headphones.

Grado makes some rather interesting headphones, and I heavily have a soft spot for them. They treat your ears to an open clean window along with a prominent midrange. This makes well recorded music sound alive and damned communicative.

Steve's video is interesting. Must say I do agree with him.

I bought a pair of SR60's secondhand and at a good price and I like them a lot. An unforced sound, but it is all there and they do not make your ears sweat!

One of my most memorable audio experiences is hearing Grado GS1000 'phones at a show maybe 30-40 years ago..
My jaw literally dropped. :wowzer:
Shockingly open and vivid, I'd not heard owt like that before.

Since then I've owned 325i and enjoyed them a lot, especially with earpads designed for the 1000 series.
Very open-backed, though, the missus complained and I sold them on.

OK .... I've been trying to track down when the 1000 series was first introduced. It doesn't seem to appear anywhere on the Grado website, doesn't get a mention even in their timeline page. Which seems strange.
The first unambiguous date I've found is where a review dated 2009 of the 1000i mentions that they had reviewed the 1000 three years before. Which makes the GS1000 introduction 2006 (or before).
And they won the Absolute Sound product of the year award in 2007 - which also kind of implies a 2006 intro date.
Sadly and weirdly, Stereophile doesn't seem to have reviewed any of the 1000 series - they usually give a decent historical overview in their full reviews.

Hmm, well, colour me confused. It just seems like ages.
