These are my second pair of these highly regarded and hard to beat ( imo ) vintage Electrostatic dynamic headphones from AKG.
I have replaced the deteriorated adjustment elastics .
These do like plenty of power !! No good for your iPhone [emoji16]
£150 posted ( U.K. ) for regular AOS members.

I've read about bass heavy and bass light versions, any idea which these are (if they really exist)?

These are the bass heavy version ( or I would say normal )

They are internally colour coded to the type. The differing versions do exist. Excellent headphones - I continually return to mine despite having highest spec Audeze, HiFiMan, AKG, Beyer, Senns, Grado etc.

I could be interested but need to know if they require an activator for the electrostatic drivers or will a good quality headphone amp like my HP8 be suitable?

Hi, they do not need an activator , a good quality headphone amp will do .I have only used them with a regular amplifier.

Thanks for the quick response Andy, however I have done a bit more research and understand that these are better suited to classical rather than rock
so i will need to look elsewhere as I already own Sennheiser electrostatics for acoustic type music.
Good luck with the sale, hope someone is enjoying these in time for Christmas.

Not a problem Ward , I cannot comment as I don’t listen to classical [emoji1743]*[emoji3603]

I'd go with Martin's comment.
No idea what 'they're not good on classical' etc., would entail.
Phones/speakers reproduce sound is all?

ELS units very clear usually.

Briefly had K340's many years ago. They do in fact need a meaty headphone amp to squeeze all the juice out.

I do use a hybrid design, 6922 type tubes and mosfets, headphone amp (G&W Tsinghua T-2.6F Tube 6922 Class A headphones amplifier with some vintage Mullard tubes). Great results.
