I had my Boom stored away for a while, but took it out recently. It seems to have a problem with the DAC and producing any audio output.
Yes - I did eventually find out about doing a factory reset, and got it working but that didn't last long. I also found out about the xilinx reset thing (whatever that is) and again that got the box working, but again it hasn't lasted long. Some info here - http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Special_IR_Keys_on_Reboot_for_Factory_Reset_and_La st_FW though there are other ways.
The box behaves as though it's forgetting some crucial data. Is it only mains powered, or does it have a backup battery inside somewhere? Otherwise I can't think why it keeps reverting to an unusable state. When it works - which seems to be rarely - it does pick up a music server and the track selection etc. works fine. The big problem is lack of audio.
Sadly, if it goes on like this it'll simply provide expensive dump fodder.
