Hello everyone , greetings from North Yorkshire , England.

I'm pretty much a veteran now in terms of hi-fi but still looking to learn from other users and pass on anything which might be considered useful.

Currently running two small systems - the primary is predominantly vinyl based with an Acoustic Signature Challenger turntable , Rega arm and Benz Micro cartridge. CD/SACD is taken care of by a Marantz SA-1 and both fire into an Almarro A318B. Speakers are Audium Comp 5.

Second system supports an Oppo BDP93 multi disc player , a Music First Classic pre amp and a pair of modded Meridian M3 speakers.

As you can see from some of these components , I tend not to chop and change too often! I will be making the move into digital downloads / music server at some point and will be asking for some advice and pointers when the time comes.

Music? Where do I start? I will try almost anything but tend to concentrate on 70's rock with a smattering of more modern jazz and some more eclectic material. Think Little Feat , any artist on the ECM label and Grey de Lisle for starters but almost anything will have been on the turntable / CD drawer at some point. Last month's favourites were Charly Antolini , Sons of Kemet and The Beach Boys ( in no particular order..)

Looking forward to participating.

Hello Paul, you seem to have a similar taste in music to me. Although I would like to find some more ECM LP's. I have just gone digital online streaming and there is a lot here in Digital Expressions and there are lots of knowledgable and helpful people, some who advised me.

Hi Adrian , thanks for the tip re the digital side - I have wanted to dabble in it for years but the vinyl collection just keeps growing. Almost all my acquisitions now are second-hand - record fairs , charity shops , Discogs for the rarer stuff etc. I'm sure I'll be making inroads into the streaming/downloads next year and will be in touch.

Regards , Paul.

Hi Paul. Welcome to AOS.

You have an unusual combination of equipment, I like it though.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you here, so feel free to join and chat with everybody.

Enjoy the forum,

Too true , saw them at The Sage a few years ago ( minus Lowell of course ). Still the best rhythm section of any group I have ever seen.
