Hi, everyone,
I wonder if anyone could tell me a way to kill out that bloody cigar smell at last from my AI valve amp's case hopelessly may be staying there for ever :-( (purchased it from a cigar addict, it smells). Thanks,

Without dismantling and cleaning out inside, the only suggestion I can make is to use the amp a lot and the smell should fade with time.

hi all,
dave is probably right, my dad smokes and everything that come out of his workshop smells well,,, like him!
i have items that i have had for years in my own home and they still smell of cigarettes! i suppose you could try putting the amp in a cupboard with a strong smelling de-oderising air freshener but short of that its a strip down job, but there is no guarantee that you will completely eliminate the smell for some time.

Try putting your amp in a plastic bag with some bicarb of soda seal the bag & leave for a day or two. The Bicarb should absorb some of the odors.

If this does not work well enough wash down with oxy crystals then white vinegar & hot water carefully 2 or 3 times or a bicarb/hot water solution!

What, the innards too????????

The externals can be cleaned well with a foaming case-cleanser and then finished off with the classic Naim "sparkle-on-a-sponge.." The innards will have to be stripped as much as possible if they are severely contaminated.

for the others,
sure, I can (and at some point will surely) take the amp apart for it closing its 20-year anniversary, and thought new elkos will be the present :) , and then I will spray the inside as well with those odour-killing stuff. anyway, should you happen to learn of a great substance that removes this f...in' smell I'd be happy to educate
