Gone with the wind. Er, the amp.

My beloved APPJ 0901A has died, with no hope of recovery.
Rather than going crazy and buying a new one / buying something several times more expensive in order to keep my Zu Druids singing, I'm going to temporarily forget how good it was and stick with the Decco2 that does a very decent, if not a bit dry, job.

So I'm selling the following.

General Electric 5751 Triple Mica Black Plates x 1 - 1000 hrs
2x Siemens EL84 (matched pair) 1960-1965 - 1000 hrs

Genalex Gold Lion ECC83 - 50 hrs
2x 6N14 Russian no name (matched pair) - 50 hrs

I'll also throw in the 2 stock Shugang EL84 that came with the amp. Not one hour of use.

The first 'trio' was some years ago believed to be amongst the best combinations possible for this amp. I'd say I easily spent £100 on them between shipping and import duty.
The second trio was more affordable but nonetheless did a decent job.
The last two EL84, I guess you can use them to check the amp's working, or make a necklace?

Asking 60€ shipped from France. I know my packaging, they won't get in harm's way.

Thanks for looking.24757247582475924760

So what's happened, are you sure it's non recoverable?

I wondered too. Something pretty catastrophic must have happened for it to be irreparable.

I had a very capable engineer look at it. He spent nearly an hour on it and couldn't figure what was the problem.
Power supply and tubes were ruled out. He said that the way the circuit board was laid out and the way the soldering was done made repairs very difficult if possible at all. At some point you just need to recognize when to give up, as we're talking about a £100 amp...

Hi Oliver,
May be too late now, but there are a couple of threads on fixing the APPJ amplifier on DiyAudio. Mostly an under rated capacitor in the power supply dies.
It is under Miniwatt N3 but is exactly the same as the AJJP amp. https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/250974-miniwatt-n3-2.html

Thanks Alan.
It is long gone, but really appreciate. At least, unlike some peeps in the thread, mine had lived a solid 6 years!
