I haven't noticed too many interesting/good bargains this year.
However Tesco has 4k Toshiba TVs for £269. I picked one up, and hope it's OK. I could have bought a Toshiba HD for £199 from Lidl, but decided that for photographs the 4k unit would be better.
Has anyone else noticed anything really worthwhile?
Not really had a look as I'm not in need of anything at the moment and I'm not going to buy stuff I don't need just because it's on sale.
In any case I reckon it's best to wait until January when they are desperate to unload all the tat that they couldn't shift at Xmas.
Am looking forward to the footage of the people fighting over said tat in the shops though, that always makes me laugh.

Purchased a self adhesive toilet roll holder (didn't want to drill through the tiles) and save a whole pound. :)

dont know, im just not fit to go out at moment.. its a great price for a big uhd tv. maybe next year:)

Sorry to hear that. If it’s just a short setback they should have them for a few days, but if you can’t make it staying well is more important, and there’s bound to be more opportunities later.

I think it is a huge con, especially when I read that some prices are being put UP just to capitalise on people's stupidity and naivety.

sure they are quite often.. a few weeks before a sale usually.
I hate what it stands for (greedy, grasping commercialism), and would normally never bother with it, but I inadvertently managed to save £30 on some engine oil I was buying for the Brabster and secured a half-price deal on DBB accommodation at a hotel I was booking for our anniversary, both courtesy of 'Black Friday' discounts.
So I guess that's ok:)

It's great for those who were going to buy / needed something and now find that due to timing they'll save a packet :)
Not so good for those who cant think for themselves and feel they need to or must spend what they havnt got, otherwise they're missing out or just simply because it's 'Black Friday' innit ! :scratch:

Personally, I think this 'Black Friday' nonsense is just an excuse to prey upon the gullible, much like the Boxing Day and New Year sales.
A smart buyer can find a bargain all year round and does not need a 'special occasion' to do so.

Bought a Kindle Paperwhite as I've been thinking of upgrading my original Kindle for a while. Was hoping that the Dr Martens BF sale would have some boots I wanted but doesn't look like.

Yes, that's spot on. As for the puerile arses who fight over TV, clothes, etc, in shops, well they should be locked up and the key thrown away!:mental:

Anita has bought me a kindle paperwhite for Christmas - she was ready to pay £120 for it, but got it for £90 instead. I already have a kindle that doesn't light up, so I know her thinking behind this upgrade, she's sick of having to punch me at 2am to "turn that piggin' lamp off".
We also got another Echo Dot for £20 - the display on the kitchen's DAB radio has gone, making it impossible to select a station. By plugging the Dot into it I can tell it to change stations for me. :)
I know Black Friday is a con, but it's ok if it's for something you were getting anyway.

No, dunder-heid (my new favourite word), I fall asleep with the lamp on, and if the kindle landing on her head doesn't wake her, the lamp does by about 2am. Regardless of what time I get to sleep, I always wake around 6.30, even when I'm not working. Once I wake, my head's too busy to let me go back to sleep. Usually need a piss by then anyway.
Cool. Not me, unless I'm ill. I've slept right through alarm systems going off and all sorts! When my head hits the pillow, I'm dead to the world for at least 8 hours:D

Just pointless crap really - the day I've had, stuff I should have done, stuff I shouldn't have done, stuff to do tomorrow. Things that are displaced by the job in hand come visiting later when all's quiet. It's nothing new, I've always been like that. But there's plenty of people out there with REAL problems, so I count myself lucky.

Yeah, that's true. Shame you can't get to sleep quickly. Even when I've had stuff on my mind, I've always been the type to just get my head down and worry about it in the morning, and when I'm tired, sleep comes naturally:)

Well the only money I spent today was in a Tapas Bar in Covent Garden on wine and food, no Black Friday discount there and thank goodness for that, does my head in.
On a side note they served the most amazing olives I think I've ever had, totally delicious, tried to buy some to take home but alas the owner said he didn't do that.

Sorry not everyone likes this thread. I was amused by the self adhesive toilet paper - or did I misunderstand that? :-)
The Tosh TV may be good, but for us it has been a right faff trying to get it to work. The instructions are rubbish, and yes, I did download the online detailed manual. I think the quality is probably acceptable, given the low price, and it may give better results with some tweaks. Yes I’ve seen better sets, but costing over £2k. For a little more than a tenth of that this may suit a lot of people.
It is unlikely that others will find it quite so difficult, as most of you will probably be in a good reception area and/or have a decent aerial or satellite system. We have major problems with broadcast reception at present for reasons I won’t immediately go into. Thus scanning for channels is likely to draw a blank, and then the set might go into a sulky endless loop - knows it can’t find any channels, and asks for a new scan, but can’t actually get back to that to do one.
However, the top left button on the remote allows different sources, so plug something into one of the HDMI inputs (a Roku stick, or computer output for example), select that and it’ll probably work. It’s supposed to have internet, both wired and wireless, but it’s not obvious how to get the wireless to work. I suspect that plugging an Ethernet cable in will give more opportunities, and solve some issues.
As a result of this I ordered a Fire 4K TV stick for £35 - saving of about £15 apparently. That’s still not ideal I guess, but probably a lot cheaper than asking someone out to fix the aerial and satellite dish. So basically I only ordered a couple of things, though mrs d has gone to town on this. I’m not going to ask ....
I dont have telly as such. so just use mine as a monitor for my apple box and dvd etc.
