Hi, Ive just up joined to learn and get an insight to what some people call hifi nuts.
Bought and sold so much over the years but being born in the early sixties heard and seen so much from tube to fets but in search of the ultimate sound, to describe my particular flavour is warm mellow bass of the 1970's, larger cone with some roll without being too precise or clinical of smaller cone sizes, detailed but not overpowering mid range, with pleasant softness and HF which is filtered only delivering crisp hi hat frequencies that audibly stands out that all together becomes a listening experience, I like to achieve a rich full flavored sound at fairly low volume levels so it doesn't need be turned up to energize the drivers to perform and also linear response even at moderate to progressive levels.
In all, a sound that when you play something random that you know, your ears prick up to the enhanced detail and the rich flavour that is as enjoyable as the music itself.
This is my quest!! and I will get there, even though my set up and methods might seem unorthodox to some.

Welcome Darren . Interesting first post . You appear to be looking for that elusive ' Holy Grail ' of sound quality which most of us on here are seeking . Unfortunately we're all different and are looking for different things from our ' HiFi ' equipment . I too favour the mellow sound you're looking for , others prefer a more detailed and analytical sound . Horses for courses I'm afraid .
There are plenty of different opinions on how to arrive at your destination on AOS , so good luck with your search and enjoy the forum :)
