Ray. I hope you have heard and liked the transport. I bought it on the strength of the sales info for a second system. it was good, but not great and was disgraced by the transport in a vintage Philips CD player.

Hi Chris
No I haven't heard the transport. Perhaps I should!
Thank you for your honest opinion.....much appreciated. I currently use a Marantz 63mII KI Signature for the transport.

Regards
Ray

Marginally better than a Sony blu ray player I've got as a transport, although to be fair to that it is equally as good as a oppo 203.

Maybe its system dependant, I have one and think it punches well above its pricepoint.

I can understand that. I was pretty impressed in isolation but somewhat disappointed when linked to a £3500 valve DAC. It was a pretty severe level of scrutiny as DACs don't come much more transparent than that.

I use one with an M-DAC and replaced a Marantz CD player that I had been using as a transport. There was no comparison, the CXC is way, way superior than my old CD player. OK, nowhere near as good as my much older Cambridge CD2 which had a fabulous drawer mechanism and nowhere near as good as my old Meridian transport but then that wasn't less than 300 quid.

I use my CXC with an upgraded Musical fidelity X Dac and have no complaints. I think it's very good value and hard to beat without spending a lot more money.

I had a CXC with Beresford DAC and it bettered my previous Naim CDX2 but quite a large margin, for a lot less.

Thank you all for your valuable input. I'm going to give it a go, hence buying secondhand as if doesn't fit the bill I can sell it on.
I will be using it with a M2Tech Young Dac.
Just got to find one now!

Ray

I'm very happy with the one I bought through the classifieds here recently but at 249 quid brand new from RS that's a bit of a no brainer.

Worth keeping a eye on the richer sounds eBay site,I paid 200 brand new on there,it sounds a lot better with some cheap (oscars audio) oak cone feet below it,first time I've noticed them making a difference, but possibly says more about my home made rack than anything else.

Ill agree with that the CXC is an excellent transport to a decent DAC far superior to many CD players, mine is better than my Rega Apollo but I need smaller boxes hence the Apollo.
