The B110s on my new IMF TLS80s (first version) seem to be bearing up following a temporary "repair" but there is distortion from one HF1300 on certain notes. I believe there are several versions of these, so if anyone knows which ones I need for these speakers that would be a great help.

If you're getting treble distortion it may be due to a dud cap in the crossover. Best check them 'cos the tweeters could get damaged.

Are you sure you don’t mean HF1300?

If so, I have a box full of NOS ones of various mounting types and impedances. Let me know or send me a picture of what physical shape and size you need, plus the DCR of the unit you have that needs replacing and I’ll see what I’ve got.

could mean hf2000 or the hf1300 i think the speaker in question uses both. if im right its 8ohm rear mounted 1300 and 16ohm rear mounted 2000. also i believe there are pics in his post in gallery section.
hope this helps
Mike.

Thanks yes I had a feeling when I typed it out I'd got the wrong number, HF1300 it is. Please could the mods alter the title I'll look at the first post.

The solder connections on these are very fiddly.

No, unfortunately you need to measure them disconnected, otherwise you’re measuring the rest of the crossover too.

It is worth measuring the HF1300's, but I think you'll find they're OK.

I'd definitely check the crossover caps, if original they are forty years old and likely to be tired or even completely knackered.

By the way, the DC resistance of voice coils generally measures around 2/3 to 3/4 of quoted impedance, though it's not exact by any means.

I believe that the HF1300's in your speakers are likely to be 16 Ohm units, probably measure approx. 12 Ohms DC resistance.
Possibly like these

If there's a sticker on the back then that's very handy!

I have never come across a blown 16 Ohm HF1300, and I got many in my various speakers. However, the low impedance version as in the Ditton 15 etc. is a different matter, had several of those blown.

Old reversible electrolytic capacitors can be really bad, often increasing in capacitance with age, and other problems.
