Facebook does this thing where it reminds you what you were doing 3 or 4 years ago. Today a picture of my old Inspire Quest TT was on there. Come a long way since then. So what were you using in 2015 Vs Today!

Heres mine in 2015:

Inspire Quest TT
Rega 202 arm
Goldring Electra cartridge
NAD 314 integrated
Celestion DL6 speakers.

Today:

Technics SP10 MK2
Phonomac AT1010 tonearm
Level 1 DCB1 preamp
Krell KSA 100 MK2
Pioneer CS-77A speakers

If I remember correctly, 2015 was:

- Garrard 301 turntable
- SME 309 arm
- Ortofon Kontrapunkt b cartridge
- Naim Supernait
- Naim CD5XS + FlatCapXS
- Mowgan Audio Ogma speakers

I’m still using the Naims and the Mowgans for reviewing purposes but the only thing from above left in my main system is the SME.

No, replaced it all with CDs. Sold the phonostage and some turntables too. Down to just 3 decks now. Can't bring myself to sell the SL1200 though.

What an interesting idea Oliver but in a way I wish you hadn't started this! I've got a member's systems thread on Lenco Heaven so I can look back over the years to see what gear I had. My thread is ironically called Ian's fairly stable system and 2015 was particularly unstable!

http://i.imgur.com/EL4SVTQh.jpg#gWPQG

In this pic you can see open baffles using Alpair 10 full rangers and Visaton 15" bass units. Sources are a Vortexbox, Meridian Director DAC, a Transcriptors Saturn with ADC XLM cart - really just for show, and a Lenco idler driven Orbe platter sitting on a Mycro frame plus Ittok and Zyx R50 Bloom. Amplification was a Sugden A21 SE or a Ming Da Piccolo depending on mood. Not shown were alternative speakers.

http://i.imgur.com/ol92Rluh.jpg#gWPQG

As well as these Frugelhorn XLs using Alpair drivers I also had the baby Frugelhorns and a pair of Proac Response 1.5's. Other gear had come and gone in 2015 as well.

Today the only thing that has survived is the Zyx cartridge. Digital is a Innuos Zen Mini with an Eastern Electic Minimax DAC, analogue a replinthed JVC TT-71 deck with Jelco 12" arm and speakers are Jordan Eikona transmission lines. This photo is not quite up to date but shows the DIY Jordans quite well.

Quite a bit of my current system has been inspired by members here so thanks to all who contributed!

Nice looking rig. Tannoys any good?

They were very good, bass to die for but they had a tendency towards harshness at times. Ultimately I preferred my Arden IIs overall so moved the DC10Ts on.

A Clearaudio MC Essence. Still have the Kontrapunkt and would like it re-tipped but it’s been to one place already who say it can’t be done, which I thought was a bit odd.

I still have them, I suspect they will benefit from cap replacement in the crossovers. I bought the caps from Falcon, never got round to it as other speakers appeared.

if you don't like bass-light speakers then they are a dream come true, they have the same power in the bass as big Tannoys. Even recordings I had thought were a bit bass-light sound like the bass guitar is playing directly through the speakers. Bass definition is another matter although I suspect that would improve with the xover re-build. I also considered taking the passive crossovers out entirely and doing it digitally (8 channels of amplification required!) Again never got round to it.

Hi Oliver,
I had a few open baffles at this time which I really liked. They have a quality about them which is very seductive, so open and airy but need plenty of room behind them if you want a decent bass response even with 15" woofers. These were my last build which looked a bit better than my previous ones :) with a simple crossover, one inductor, one capacitor, and they worked really well but I could tell they were tolerated rather than loved by my ever patient wife so they went to another good home.

I had the same system three years ago that I have had for almost six years total. Naim Uniti, pair of Naim Nap-100 amps and Larsen Model 4 speakers, with a mix of Croft Micro 25/Series 7 amps thrown in the cycle. Six months ago came my current setup. Still have the Naim Uniti and pair of Croft Series 7 amps.....

If you're on a tight budget the Marantz CD player is a serious contender.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/gninnamag/Hifi/Current%20HiFi/20151205_032823_zpsuxlcxgrw.jpg

Speakers were Quad 12l's
TT was a Lenco GL75 in a very heavy plinth (top half about 24Kg) - bottom half was filled with sand and weighed around 10Kg.
Arm was a Linn Basik and the cartridge would have been an A&R P77

Used an Integrated amp - Audiodab 8000A - owned new from 1984

Sounded very good to be honest.

What I have now is in my signature.

3 years ago I started my vintage route. The beginning was quite modest with basic Technics gear. I had no idea what will follow:) Initially, when the strategy was not clear yet, I was addicted to purchase cassette tape decks. So far 16 units, 10 of which were a mistake.

https://i.imgur.com/moWq0UE.jpg

So step by step I have reached the current status - a complete vintage Pioneer system. This journey was full with emotions:) In the beginning I had no tapes. Now I have around 6-700 cassettes and 30 reel tapes.

I've been very happy with my system for a number of years now. Only significant difference is that Hifiman 400s has supplanted AUDIO Technica AD900 as my premium headphones, and a Xduoo xd-05 with Burson v5i opamp upgrade shares headphone duty with my Hifi News Headcase headphone amp. I'm sentimental, when I get used to something and like it, it tends to stay for a long time.
