Rega rp3 - playing some records with distortion

I'm just getting back in to vinyl and buying a few new records. All have played spot on then last week one I bought plays distorted, then breaks up completely. Planned to take the record back as a bad pressing. Neighbour comes around tonight and brings a few records around. First one we pop on does the same thing.. others play perfectly. Any ideas?.

I have found new records need cleaning.

Dirty stylus?

Loose cartridge?

VTA and VTF set correctly?

Just a few thoughts.

Damaged, worn or dirty stylus. Incorrect setting of arm, low tracking weight.

What's the cartridge?

It's an Elys 2. I've followed the set up instructions closely..I think. How do I clean the stylus and any ideas why it's only showing on certain records?

I had a similar issue with the P3 I had. The only thing I could put it down to was static. Older records played fine. Newer records had the same problem as you are experiencing.

I checked every other variable already mentioned.
