Yamaha CDX-10000 Centennial Anniversary Edition CD Player - £1650

A very rare opportunity to purchase this wonderful and rare cd player. This Yamaha has been professionally restored by one of France's finest vintage specialists. The capacitors were changed and the drive mechanism has been checked. The player is functionally like new and is ready for many years of service. The Lcd display circuit has also been checked.

This is a beautiful work of design and audio performance.

There are two some marks on the right side wooden panel including a hairline crack, two small marks on the rear left panel (see photos) and some traces on th top side metal. Otherwise the player is in perfect functional condition. The player was originally from Japan and functions with a small power converter to 100V.

The player has been in my possession for many years and now it must find a new home.

I had the Sony CDP R10 and DAS R10 around 10 years ago. Wonderful sound quality, I imagine the R1 series is also excellent.

I am actually saving the finest and rarest item for myself..also by Sony. I was asked whether I would consider sending it to the MOMA in New York for a digital music retrospective. Its a little like the first Apple Computer in digital terms.

I have actually heard this player, many years ago. The fact that I still remember it says much; wonderful player, according to my recollection.

Were it in this country and reasonably close to me, I'd probably have it. As it is, transit from La Belle France, is just too full of stress for me to contemplate.

Best of luck with this sale; someone will end up with a really great player.

Audio items like this and others from the belle époque are a little like classic cars in digital terms. Well maintained they can go on forever but the mechanics can go awry. By default I would send any vintage highend item to have it checked out. One might think that the unit is running well but under the hood things can be a different.

I purchased this player as faulty in Japan some years ago. It has since been in storage whilst my life took me from Strasbourg to Vannes in Brittany, where I now run an organic ice cream business.

As it happens perhaps one of the finest restorers of vintage digital is only 1hr from me in Rennes. He took apart the player and repaired the tray mechanism and replaced a number of key components.

Here is the repair job documented and with photos. Denis is currently working on the restoration of my Sony CDP5000 with seperate Analysing computer. He also restored the Nakamichi which was sold yesterday.

The photos are not for the faint hearted!

I owned the pre and also the NX10000 speakers which subsequently were bought be a guy in Chile! The NX10000 were great but no match for the TAD speakers.

More like a bit of back pedalling in the wake of proof that it's just an incorrect statement?!

I'd love that piece if I had the money. Japanese high end is THE high end for me. Too many British cottage industry companies making ugly black boxes with very little in them that end up getting hyped up to the stratosphere when in actual fact the actual performance is nothing to write home about. Then they go to the wall, as have many..
