Ive just heard that trumpeter Roy Hargrove has died.

Tragic loss of someone so young. I was aware that he had a bad substance abuse problem, but it still comes as a shock.

A beautiful jazz trumpeter, I particularly liked his ballad playing.

Oh this is terrible news!
As you say, such a talented horn player, gone so young.
I’ve seen him a few times live over the years and he really played beautifully.
A true star in the jazz world, a shame he has gone the same premature way as many Stars of the genre.

Earfood is a particular favourite and a very good Cuban influenced lp, Habana.
