Helps if you get someone to tap the centre spindle whilst you lift the platter.

Never found one that was really tricky to get the platter off. Just lift the platter a few millimetres on the available slack, pack a bit of cardboard under the edge in a couple of places, then give the spindle a firm tap with a hammer using a piece of wood to protect the end spindle end.

Nobody around, used some tile spacers to apply pre load on platter and tapped spindle with plastic end of big screwdriver, simples :)
