View Full Version : Cheap, but good speakers for the garage?

I am thinking of putting a system out in the garage.
I have everything I need except for some speakers. The garage is fairly large, being the equivalent to a double garage, and about 4 to 5 metres high with a pitched roof.

They will be fed either from a Kenwood KA3020se or an Arcam Alpha8/8p/10p combination.
What would be big enough to fill the space, giving a reasonable level of sound without costing too much?

Had to check ebay - That's a lot of speaker for the money!

There's some Celestion ditton 44 for £250 on ebay. Not sure of going price but other people are asking for a lot more.

A bit smaller but with plenty of wallop, Tannoy DC1000 dual concentrics.

Heybrook HB1. They can be picked up very cheaply second hand and are cracking speakers. I bought mine for a fiver (they'd been hand wood-effect painted and are as ugly as sin, but fine for my study system). I have replaced the main drivers which cost me around £130. Something like this pair on ebay (https://ebay.us/gZCvIJ) would be just the ticket.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check the local market to see what is available over here.
