Thank you for letting me join...here is my long intro about my setups.

I have been a audio enthusiast for over 40 years. The fever hit me when I was in the US military, and has never let go. I have progressed from a DIY Speaker I had in HS which was basically a box with a speaker in it to varies brands of Speaker designs and Manufacurers. I have owned BIC, Altec Lansing model 9s, various CV including the S1, Celestion S3s, Klipsch LaScalas over time 3 pair (I keep going back to the horn sound I love so much), Martin Logan Sequels, and then I started to build again. The last setup I had was my Home Theater Setup(which I have sold along with the house). This setup was 3 JBL 2360as with EVDH1As, and QPie bass bins, JBL2340S for surrounds, and a pair of Danley DTS10s.
My electronics have went from lowly Sansui integrated amps, Yamaha stereo receivers in the late 70s (integrated, power amps, preamps), Adcom poweramps, preamps, Classe DR5, DR6, and DR10 amps in bridged mono. I tinkered with tubes for a while with Audible Illusions with several models up to the Modulus 3 too.
I have had several turntables including 2 Mitchell Gyrodecs (my all time favorite) to the turntable I bought for my wife...a Project RPM Carbon

Currently I am working getting 4 Klipsch Belle bass bins made with generic 18x10 horns, and EV DH1A drivers. These will be used as my main channels until I get 3 Klipsch Synergy k402 speakers built. These will also use EV DH1A drivers, and Emminence Kappa 15c woofers (1 pair each). I planning on using 2 MiniDSP 8x8 crosovers for all 7 biamped channels. I have 9 B&O 50w, and 125w amp modules I will be bridging (li need to pick up 2 more of the 125w ones still). I am also looking at building 3 Pass ACA bridged mono amps for my 3 Synergy horns to drive the EV DH1As...if this turns out to be more diffocult than i can do...I will get so eo e else to build the amps. All of the amps will be housed in custom wood cases.
I will be making my own acoustic dampening panels out of Roxul R60 for our room as it is made of clay brick (including the Boveda ceiling...all of which is covered in concrete/clay?). Our floors are Cantera Lava stone so the room is EXTREMELY live. I will be tuning the room with a Dirac unit down the road, but my hopes are not very high fo being able to tune this room with a glass wall, and a 32' high Boveda ceiling. I am looking at about $2k just in Roxul to put a dent in to tuning the room already, and I must maintain the looks of the room as it is living room too.
As you can see I have a lot on my plate to complete.

Welcome to AoS Ron.

My, that's some list of gear you have used, and a lot of projects for the future. There are many audio DIYers here as well as fans of JBL, Altec and horn-loaded speakers.

So, just get involved with the discussions here and let us know how you are progressing with the projects. We would love to see some photos of your gear. :)

What are your tastes in music?

Enjoy the Forum

Thanks for the welcome. As far as music, I like Rock, Pop, Alternative, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rap, Techno, Club, and Dance..there might be more, but that covers most of it. I will post some pics when I get my bass bins, and amp modules built which should be before the end of the year. Does AOS have a section for build threads?

Yes it does Ron, it's called 'The Drawing Board' and it's where all the DIY threads are placed.

You certainly have a wide taste in music. :)

I had to look up what a Boveda ceiling is. :) 32 foot high you say. Wow that must be a very large room you have to tame. Love to have such a large space to play audio in. Really interested to see some pics of your current set up and also your plans for the future. I played a bit with active DSP amping and see the potential. Perfect for your situation so not surprised to read that is the path you are on.

Ron, please link up some pictures of your room. I'm trying to imagine what a room that is 32 feet high looks like. It's about five times higher than my ceiling!
