There was a thread here that I can no longer find, about CD players that recognise the hi-end lift flag and those that do not. I have a NAD C515BEE CD player and I have a couple of CD albums that were made in the 1980s . To my ear, they have accentuated treble and sound very "bright." I was wondering if anyone knew if my NAD player was one of those that recognises the mastering hi-end lift flag? I can't find anything in the specs available in the user manual.

You're talking about HDCD?

These all have it:

NAD C 542 (CD Player)
NAD M5 (SACD/CD Player)
NAD M55 (SACD/DVD Player)
NAD T 585 (SACD/DVD Player)

I don't think yours has it.

No, I'm not talking about HDCD. All I'm asking is, does anyone know if my NAD CD player recognises the pre-emphasis flag encoded into older CDs?

Probably not!
There's a list out on the 'net.

There is a copy of King Crimsons, In the Court of the Crimson King with HDCD encoded, wow does it sound amazing. Not helpful, but just thought I would say.
