Looks like pooch may be trying out her new raincoat today. It's raining steadily but not heavily. Temp 11C and it's pretty gloomy. Typical November really.

Complete opposite again here in sunny Wrexham!:D
Sun splitting the skies, with hardly a cloud in sight, and currently 9°C. It tends to rain here at night, usually making way for a nice sunny morning:)

Yes they are very quick on the water. The crews were certainly giving themselves a real good workout.

They are Olympic class sailing dinghies. Crew of two and very fast in the hands of these sailors practising for Olympic glory. There is a large facility at Portland where sailors from all over the world go to train. Also many local children can get a taste of sailing in the safe waters of Weymouth Bay and Portland harbour. I have to say they looked magnificent this morning and the photo doesn't really do the fine scene justice. Glad you like it. :)
Cheers for the info, mate. I don't follow the Olympics or sailing, so wouldn't have known. It's a nice shot though, with a lovely backdrop:)

Another beautiful sunny day in Wrexham... Can't believe the weather we're getting here at the moment!:)

It's one of the few places in the UK where you can get authentic Italian pizza, cooked in a wood-fired oven - and also one of the few Italian restaurants these days that serves (good quality, imported from Italy) loose house wine in carafes!
A litre carafe of red or white is less than £15 - a far cry from being made to pay around £20 for a 75cl bottle of something distinctly mediocre, which you could buy in a supermarket for less than half the price... :cheers:

About the same here. Hope it pisses down tonight, it's Diwali, so all hell is likely to let loose tonight as the Indians let off about ten million quid's worth of fireworks.
Nice and sunny here and not cold for the time of year, but it's also quite windy. Hope you can get some peace tonight, Geoff!:rolleyes:

I quite like the odd day like that, especially on Halloween... Also on Christmas Day, so that all the candles around the house, and the lights on the tree, show up to good effect:)

A proper November day today. Damp, overcast and gloomy and the temperature is a mere 5C. Will need winter jacket and gloves when out.

Kevin - there's a bit more snow just north of you (Caledon). About 5cm on the ground in the garden; 10cm this weekend on the trails in Albion Hills. MTB season seems to be over now; will soon need snowshoes to get around there. :)

That time of year has arrived when I start to envy people who work indoors. Tomorrow I'll be spending the day re-roofing a listed building on top of a hill. My mate always asks me onto these jobs because no one else is daft enough to do them.
The "tea room" is the gatehouse, which was built in the 1700's. In my rush to get a brew I scraped the skin off the top of my head on the doorway's stone lintel. Clearly people were a lot shorter 300 years ago.
Doesn't seem like five minutes since I was moaning about it being too hot.

I spent years doing hard donkey work outside all year round and in all weathers and generally enjoyed it. Didn't like icy steel tools freezing to my hands though :).
worked out in all weathers too; Quite glad i dont have to now, but enjoyed most of it

Really, I'd rather it was too cold than too hot when working - you can always put on extra layers. What I don't like is when I hit my fingers with something when it's freezing. That's a special kind of throbbing.

A wallop on the thumb with a 4lb club hammer seems to hurt about the same all year round :). I remember bursting open the end of my left index finger with one, that had me hopping about a bit :eek:.

I don't mind the flavour to be honest Marco and it certainly can be fun and quaffable but the speedy production process lends it to being 'barely wine'-as the French might say-in the traditional sense.

Lol - I love it in the winter when it gets dark early. as is signifies lighting the log fire/some candles and getting the house all nice and warm and cosy for the night:)
You can keep your lighter nights until nature allocates them to us!:ner:;)

I've got a few bottles of Margaux, Haut-Médoc and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, stashed away. We'll be having one of them with the goose on Christmas Day.
My most treasured bottle, which I'm saving for a (very) special occasion, but which although is ready to drink now, is a 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild 1er Grand Cru Classé. I bought it from a wine shop in London, not long after I met Del, and it cost me a fair bit even back then!
When the time comes (possibly for our 30th wedding anniversary in 2021), that one will require some careful decanting, and a meal of requisite quality to accompany it:)

I actually watched some old episodes of Dr Who (Tom Baker era, when it was PROPER, not like the shit now, posing as such, with a lady Doctor:doh:) on YouTube, and it was great!:cool:

Nah don't get too excited. It's only a café that is owned by an Iranian. Being close to a language school it doubles up as a cyber café, and several students come in for coffee and lunch. Nothing special, but we like the lasagne and they do a very decent cup of coffee.
We get on well with the owner: he knows our tastes and knowing I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Iran, will, at times, join us to talk about the situation there and elsewhere.
As for Persian cuisine - I loved it, but have yet to find a convenient restaurant in London.
Ah no worries... I was envisaging plates of amazing tasting, traditional home-cooked Iranian specialities [whatever such may be]! Not lasagne....:doh:

The hoist takes the time. Got to be fitted then checked etc. Just they way these things are done.
