Well, a right bitch actually.
Have you ever had a carefully planned upgrade coming, you eagerly wait in anticipation for the day of arrival, duly insert in your system with a palpable tension, only to have all your expectations dashed on the rocks?
I would prefer that!
We're scheduled to fly to St. Lucia in the Caribean tomorrow at 9.30am to get married. Or rather, we were. On Friday on the beach. At sunset. With a steel band.
Don't think a bit of Hi Fi retail therapy is going to salve this one. :(

It couldn't be shittier! Although there's pressure to review the assessment, the latest is a continued UK airspace ban until at least 1.00am tomorrow, so I think we have to accept that we're not going on schedule! Don't know what the options are yet, kinda stuck in limbo. We're supposed to need 3 days residency before marriage so even going one day late would have it's issues. Even when they start flying, all the planes will be in the wrong places so it'll take days to honour any scheduled times.
Wouldn't mind having been stuck there!
We may get to still go in the coming days but our respective kids were only coming for a week so they probably can't. Twill be tears before bedtime...
Hi Steve,
I'm really sorry to hear that, mate - *that* is seriously a pisser! :(
Fingers crossed you can somehow resolve the situation. Out of interest, were you going anywhere near here:

The place above in St Lucia belongs to my wife's cousin. We're going over there at some point to visit.
Lovely idea for a wedding, btw! I'm sure it'll work out in the end :)

Hi Marco
Marigot Bay is about half way up the coast, we're booked at Rodney Bay which is in the far north - but nowhere is far there!
Yeah, was a dream plan. Linen suits and flip flops!! We heard just last Wednesday that we could have our requested time of sunset, then Thursday morning - Pow.
I was stuck in Dublin last week, due to fly back Thurday morning. At first I thought colleagues were having a laugh when they said there was a flight ban due to a volcano, knowing that I had to get back for this. Caught a ferry to Holyhead Friday morning at 8.00am then a hire car to drive back to Stanstead airport, collect the car from a packed car park and got home at 10.00pm. Still thought it would last a day or two but every half day they extend it another half day.
I would even volunteer to be first up! There seems to be some controvercy as to the need for this level of caution, mainly by the airlines who are losing a fortune.
Just be careful, mate - safety must always come first :)
I've never been to St Lucia, but was just curious if you were going near where Del's cousin lived. She loves it, as you can imagine, having moved there from Germany, which is quite a difference!
I'm sure the current situation will simply serve to stall your plans, and sometime soon you guys will be sipping champagne in paradise, with all this heartache a distant memory.
Good luck, and congratulations for the future. I wish your good lady and you many years of health and happiness
Marco.

Thanks for your thoughts, guys. Watched planes flying overhead all day, just to rub it in! Our local Going Places agent has been superb and we just have confirmation of rebooking for Sunday week, different but better hotel, same wedding arrangement and cost me a few bob more - but some things are priceless! :champagne:
Might just have a wee dram and a few happy tunes now.....
Big smilies all round. Just watch that bloody volcano kick off on St Lucia now!
Excellent!
fingers crossed.
and toes and legs and arms... (etc.)
