For sale a Nakamichi Dragon Dragon CD and DAC.

Both units were in storage for some time, therefore I sent them to one of France's foremost vintage digital specialists near Rennes. They replaced all capacitors and disassembled and reassembled the draw mechanism.

I wanted the unit to be in like new playing condition for the new owner.

There is a small nick on the top of the dac but it could be touched in if required.

For sale at a respectable price of £3000 which is around half of what they are currently for sale for on the interweb. As a guide when I had my audio business back in 2008 these were selling for 4500 euros without problems!

That's a real looker, who needs dials and fancy displays when you have industrial design like that?

Nice, is one of the three units a power supply?

Ritchie it isn't obligatory but at this price level you really could do with posting some better photographs.

Hi Macca I totally agree with you. I had to leave for a weekend hike in the Finistere. I will take further photos when I return.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi

Very interesting item indeed.

I seem to recall that this set came with a specific and dedicated remote control with wood side panels, pretty much looking like the rest of the set design-wise. Is it also available?

And what about voltage? Most such sets, even in Europe, are either Japanese or American models with the PSU set for 100/120V. Is this one of them or a genuine European model of some 220/240V?

As you might have understood by now I might fancy this set so next question is. Where can it be checked, eventually tested, eventually bought, etc? In the Finistere or in the UK and if so where exactly? I travel often to France so could envisage a detour to have a look.

Best

Hi David

Yes the remote control is included, also original manuals.

This version is 100V from Japan. You would require a small step down tx.

I am about 15 minutes from Vannes on the Golfe de Morbihan. Currently renovating a large longere so there is no way to actually hear the cd. It has however undergone full testing and servicing only one month ago by Vintage Audio Laser near to Rennes. I'll have to test the remote now you mentioned it as it did not travel to Rennes with the transport and dac.

Regards

Ritchie

Thanks Ritchie

Keep us posted on the remote. It's an integral part of the set and in this day and age most people need them anyway.

Once you'll have informed us on the remote's condition I'll take it from there and then maybe a trip to Vannes may be envisageable.

Thanks Mike :) Yes it is perhaps going off to Poland and the chap wants to come over to collect it, quite a trek from Poznan! The player is also for sale on German ebay and is attracting interest.

Provisionally sold to a completely crazy Polish guy, currently driving from Poznan to Vannes to pick up the Nakamichi...

Provisionally sold to a completely crazy Polish guy,

Is there any other type?

I would have loved this and would happily have driven from Poland for it, I just don't have the three grand to chuck at it. Fantastic bit of kit.

I have loads of stories like this having spent some time in the audio business between 2005 to 2009...I guess that is what happens when you mix mans quest for ephemeral perfection and his immediate access to spare cash.

Its just the fact that he is imposing himself without notice, its a little scary to be honest but I guess you have to take it as it comes.
