I am personally tempted by the 400gb Micro SD Card

Also crazy price on the 4tb WD Passport drive. I paid a lot more for mine.

The 4TB Passport is the best external drive I have ever bought. I dumped my network drive because of it.

I agree. They are pretty fast and quiet too. I have several of the 4tb jobs so can't really justify buying another. Crazy price for the banana model though!

If using larger sized drives it makes sense to use the file journal system used by the majority of Linux operating systems
which is Extension 4 , or shortened to ext4, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext4 this is due to partition tables on comparative NTFS allowing on master boot record (MBR) disks support only partition sizes up to 2 TB
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS For comparison this information is essential https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems

I am in need of a additional back up of my system, as the recommendation is good,
can a link be put up for the 4TB Passport, I just want to make sure I am looking at the correct version.

Bought and Payed for.
The last time I purchased a Portable HD, I paid about £50 for 1TB. So this latest purchase is a bargain.

I see through some reviews it can be used as separate compartments, 'me doing that will be fun'
Any ideas on how to best use it for my setting up a digital replay system, will be a added bonus.

Connect it to the USB port on your router and then you will have access to the files on all devices on your network.

It is a good price but it says the data transfer rate is only 1Mb per second - surely that is wrong?

Depends upon file size but I believe it well over 100mb p/s. In use it's as fast as most drives I have had but of course it takes a long time to transfer 1tb of files, let alone 4tb. Plenty fast for streaming though.

1Mb does seem piss poor even over USB 2 - can only assume it's a misprint!

I recently copied around 1.6tb of flac files from one WD 4tb drive to another via USB 3.0. Took around two hours so I reckon close to 1tb per hour transfer rate.
