This email this morning ==

photobucket

Starting November 1st, you will see a discreet “Proudly hosted on Photobucket” watermark on any images you display on sites other than Photobucket.

This change will allow us to continue offering our image hosting service to you as a free user. If you don’t mind the watermark and wish to continue as a free user, you won’t need to do anything. If you prefer no watermarking, simply upgrade to one of our affordable premium plans starting at only $4.48 per month.

I guess all the old photos are still there.

I deleted all my images and never used PB again. Bit late for them now to realise what a Phuck Up they made!

Cheers for the news, Jerry:thumbsup:

This sort of discussion would normally be for Abstract Chat, but I'll leave it here more prominently for now, so that folks see it who may not have been aware.

Marco.

So true, way too late now.

I'd been waiting patiently for Photobucket to realise the error of their ways, and was pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago to find my library intact and the method of posting unchanged. just a bit tricky getting onto the 'upload/library' site via various invitations to pay. Couldn't get sorted with other sites and it originally took a few months to manage Pb so I adopted the 'devil you know' mentality, being somewhat digitally challenged.

Just use postimages. Free, very easy to use and generate the necessary links, etc.

Yes, they have been back up for some time now. Only the watermarking twist is new.

This has pleased me . I have a fair size library of old Wrexham soccer pics I spent an age scanning !!
I can use them again , and if they want a phartbucket icon on them ,why not:)

Talk about backtracking, too little to late...

I switched to using Tappatalk which I've paid for for life (doubt that is actually true or will hold true), it's super easy to upload the photos I take and is not beholden to a photo hosting site.. Beholden to Tappatalk instead of course..

I looked at a couple of my old threads with Photobucket image links and the pictures are there but I can't see a watermark anywhere - perhaps that comes the 1st Nov?

I guess the internet filled with their stupid broken place holder image proved a bad marketing ploy in the end!

Yes, I too have had a look and can't see any sign of watermarking.

Whilst it is gratifying that Photobucket have seen the error of their ways (and indeed the £40 per annum they are offering for watermark-free hosting is much better than the avaricious £400 per annum they originally wanted to charge), 'thumbnail' images still don't show.

Shame it has taken PB so long, and for many the damage has been done.

This is the only image I host on that site now.
