Wanted CD Transport

Looking for a not too costly CD transport. My Marantz KI signature has given up the ghost once again! I've replaced the laser assembly at least twice since I first bought the machine but no more! I noticed that SLS ' Steven' a forum member on here' mentioned in a different thread he has a Tascam CD-200 in his loft.https://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?60456-WTD-CD-player-in-West-London-area
Something like that would do me. Must have a Coax output.

I thoroughly recommend the Cambridge CXC transport. I moved from a Marantz CD to the CXC and really heard the improvements in SQ. There was one for sale on AOS last week but it may well have sold. Richer Sounds sell them at a good price.

I use CD players as transports, which can be easier to find than dedicated transports. For a cheap solution I like the Sony CDP-XB930 - one of their CD with the puck. On my main system I use a Rega Apollo R which does a good job for me. The R has not been replaced with the Apollo CDP (http://www.rega.co.uk/apollo.html), and I think that's a good option if you don't want to spend a lot on a new player.

There aren't a great many dedicated transports out there, curious as to why it has to be a transport rather than a CD player which can output to spdif?

Always fancied owning a transport only machine. Preferably one that doesn't use a VAM 1201/1202 mechanism. Not what I would say, is a good transport mechanism! But that's just my opinion. I use to own a Sony 502 ES......a cracking machine.....still in service now' one of my daughter's still uses it', Shame it didn't have a any digital outputs. Another daughter has my old Technics SL-PS770A and it's never skipped a beat!
I would consider a CD player but it all depends on the mechanism that's in place.

Buy the pioneer dv 300 on ebay, that has quite literally the worlds best spdif output. It uses a memory buffer output with its own clock and the only square wave spdif eye pattern you'll ever see. That why Goldmine used them as the basis of their transports.

Being frank this is what you are going to have to pay minimum, even very basic transports from the past will more than likely be selling for more than this as transport only machines were usually only to be found in the mid to higher end sector and are very popular still. In demand.

Actually, thinking about it, I have a Pioneer PD-S705 CD player which has only had light use that I'd be willing to sell. I powered it up recently, used it as a transport and it worked well.

LOL yeah, I moved from a Marantz to a CXC and also noticed a huge improvement. A short while back I moved from coax digital to optical and noticed yet another huge improvement in sound.

Thank you for your offer but still wanting just a transport only. Funny you should mention the DV717? I have a Pioneer DV-575A in my television rack....never used it for years!
At least I've got a back up if needed, that's If it works?
