View Full Version : HiQ sound pre and power & Dynaudio Monitors ( iota Q series )

Does anyone recognise these apparently 20 year old pre and power?
The power amp is apparently a prototype and was never released commercially so I don’t expect more info on that but the XLR connections, is that a good thing ? The included prototype iota/Dynaudio Monitors are also XLR .
The iota/ HiQ Q series preamp has no power supply with it ( so I can’t test it [emoji35] ) which I know is a big no no , but if the price is right ?
Could I get a power supply?
Should I walk away ?

Providing you can find out what the power requirements of the pre are then one could be bought or built to suit.

Otherwise it is a bit of guesswork, helped a lot if a schematic is available. Good hunting.

I don’t recognise those connections on the back of the preamp though ! Is it a studio pre ?

It was a pro company so will likely be studio stuff or intended for that.
Probably quite decent gear. Our own Anthony td may know more or the likes of dsjr

not sure its a great idea, but sure someone will know..ive not tried it. speakers may be ok tho, as its probably just speakon plugs

Dare I say it but it may not be so good with my Yamaha’s anyway being that it was made as a package.
