For those interested Tim has released a new version of Moode and has finally reverted back to providing an ISO image download in place of the painful build mechanism in the past few releases.
Pesonnally I have moved over to Volumio but I may give this a try again.

I have also migrated to Volumio but would be interested to hear your assessment of the latest Moode.
For those who use Spotify, it's integrated in Moode 4.3 and it works well.
If there are any problems, Moode now has its own forum.
got it downloaded and extracted. just need an sd card now. will have to go some to beat both volumio and picoreplayer/lms tho.

If there are any problems, Moode now has its own forum.That's good to know, one of the reasons I went away from MoOde was the lack of Spotify integration.
I don't use an rPi just now as I have a better player but I might just install 4.3 on the mothballed one to see how it looks/sounds now.

Wonder if it's compatible with the new katana dac? If so I'd be interested.
I like volumio now, much better than before but it still updates the USB drive if I powered off at some point.

I tried Moode but stuck with Volumio in the end but I cant remember why now. Will give the new version a try as I like the idea of a parametric eq. I have a suck out at around 125 hz and a peak at 100 hz in my room. Might be able to mitigate it a bit.
Moode 4.3 has been working great on my system since it's release, and yes it supports the new katana dac.

What about Tidal?
It supports both Tidal and Qobuz via Upnp or Airplay plus it also supports Spotify connect. I use the mconnect ap on my ipad to listen to Qobuz via moode.
I haven't updated in a year or so - any SQ upgrade, or just new toys to play with?!

I honestly can't hear any SQ difference between Moode and Volumio.
I have 2 identical (3) pi's and 2 Allo (Piano) DACs's so can do side by side comparison's.
I just keep the standard settings and find the sound of both Moode and Volumio is fine for me.
My initial preference was for Moode because I found Volumio so buggy but since using the recent versions for a couple of months I now find the whole look and feel of the UI app so much better with Volumio and the bugs seem to have been fixed.
After listening to and using Moode 4.3 I am not going to move away from Volumio - for me SQ for both is fine for me and the user satisfaction/interface is better with Volumio for what I am looking for.

I've just bought an allo digione and was wondering what player to use. Was set on Volumio but if the latest version Moode is good I may have to get this on a 2nd SD card and switch between the two.
Am I right in thinking that Spotify and Tidal are now also integrated with Volumio?

I prefer Volumio. It can be selected as a PnP device with Audivarna which is perfectly integrated with Tidal and Qubuz.
I use a Digione too BTW!

I recently tried Moode 4.3 on my RP3 and had nowt but bother.
3rd attempt to install the software finally worked but was still buggy; very slow to respond and artwork took about 3 reboots to show up. Couldn't get the background picture feature to work at all on my desktop but it showed on my iPad app ... and froze it :(
Gone back to Moode 3.8 (which usually works just fine)
yeah the jpg pic doesnt work. the cover art is slow to appear as u say. sounds decent and seems stable tho. Volumio2 is far superior
think i will be taking this card out and using my picoreplayer/sqeezelite one; if i can remember how to use it... chris talked me through it last time ..

I bought an Audiophonics Linear Power supply for the Rpi. Cost about 70 quid IIRC. Has two usb outputs. I think it is a worthwhile improvement on the standard walwarts.
If and when you do get around to using AV, I think you will be very surprised by just how much it improves SQ. I was very sceptical when I tried it but it does make a huge difference.
I also bought a short BNC to RCA cable (25cm) to connect to the SEG. I found this to be an improvement on the standard RCA to RCA cable. The short cable is very flexible so I can place the Rpi on top of the SEG and the cable just loops neatly. https://www.designacable.com/catalog/product/view/id/4542/s/neutrik-bnc-to-rca-lead-van-damme-75ohm-plasma-coax-cable-cctv-video-spdif/
Oh and one final thing. I fitted some 3m bumps to the base of the Rpi. Helps stop the device from shifting or marking the SEG, as well as reducing vibrations.

Yup, I put another card in with volumio again, and out via spidif. working well and sounding good. much better than moode i have to say... got 2 volumio systems although not connected. dunno if you can do that or if you would want to.

Volumio automatically detects multiple Rpi players. Each is assigned a separate IP address. It is possible to control each player from the same screen in a multiroom setup. Very neat!

how do you do that? currently both have different ip's and i have to have 2 browser windows.

I am not quite sure how I did it but this is what it looks like

found it... it works one way only tho... i can send tracks one way to another player.. one doesnt have a hdd in it... still thats handy.. cheers for pointing it out
Think ive fixed it now.. both showing in each window... dns was off on one..

I think it helps to give different names to the devices. I was actually using two completely different HAT boards.
However, I found I could control both from the same screen and that they worked fully independently too.

Yeah, mine is volumio2 and volumio spidif. both now switching nicely. not sure if i had to as both are hard wired to the router, but i switched on the wifi as well on both and configured it. First time ive got he 2b to work on wifi. volumio2 must have improved from last one in that respect.
Just trying Volumio for the first time in ages, after being generally very happy with an old version of Moode.
Very impressed! Such an easy set up, and great extra functionality options. In particular the YouTube integration - can see myself using this a lot to listen to factual stuff, plus some music too occasionally. Great stuff!
