Having taken advice from one of the mods I am posting this as I have no idea what to do next

I sold my Living Voice speakers to an AoS member Malcolm, username: Complin

I agreed with Malcolm that I would meet up with his friend Jason at Cobham Services on the M25 at a day/time suitable to exchange the LV's. It’s a two hour round trip for me and about an hours round trip for Jason who lives in the Croydon area

Malcolm paid for the LV’s on 14th September and I’ve heard absolutely nothing since

I contact Malcolm on 21st September asking if we have a day/time yet agreed with his friend. I’ve heard nothing

I tried to send him a pm a few days ago but as his AoS inbox was full again I emailed him via AoS asking please, within the next day, can we have a day/time to meet up

I’ve still not heard anything and it’s now a full two weeks since he paid for the LV’s

I do hope Malcolm is ok, of course, but I don’t have a clue what to do next

Any ideas ?

I hope Malcolm sees this, and contacts you.
If not, then if he paid by PayPal, refund his money and then sell the speakers to someone else?

Apparently, he last was active yesterday morning.

He paid by bank transfer and I'm not sure whether the bank can refund that

Weird. If you do get a meet arranged Bev, don't go alone. No telling what kind of person or persons you could be dealing with. Of course there could be a totally innocent reason for things having gone pear shaped.

I'd await for a few more weeks at least Bev, and keep his money safe. He could be ill or called away unexpectedly/death in family etc... After your sure he is not coming for them, you could feel free to resell them and when he, or if he comes looking for either you at least have the money to refund.

I agree here on both Geoff and Grants input. Hang in there, even if it does put things in an awkward situation at the moment. Patience hopefully prevails all around!

I never gave a second thought about going alone but I will now, thanks Geoff

That was my thought as well Timothy, giving it some more time/weeks

How many weeks I've no idea but I guess I kinda just want them out of the house now

Hopefully not long! Those are beautiful speakers Bev, wouldn’t mind a pair myself, getting yours here across the pond not too simple! Hopefully all will work out in good time though!

If you don't hear any further in a week or two, perhaps you could ask a Mod to send a message to his registered e mail?

As advice to buyers and sellers; always best to get full contact details from buyer or seller, so that you are are not reliant on firum messaging systems. Plus you then know who you're dealing with.

I'm sure that this will work out OK though. It's cerainly a life truism that 'Stuff Happens'. There are myriad things that might have stopped contact for a while.

Been paid where's the worry ;)

He'll turn up soon no doubt, OR your bank account will be empty [emoji23]

What, is his mate going to knock you over the head and steal the speakers that he's already paid for?

If she doesn't know the person it is wise to have someone with her as a matter of course. It's standard protection guidelines.

Like I say I actually never gave it a second thought as I do most things by myself but I'll get Colin to tag along with me if I ever get a date/time to meet up ;)

I had a similar selling experience with Malcolm, I eventually delivered the speakers personally. I'll drop you a pm.

It would seem I'm not alone having no contact from Malcolm and I've still not heard anything

Did you specify a collection time? If you did and it wasn't met, you can charge for storage and send a message saying so.

Had the same problem with this guy on eBay, he's not I'll, well not in the sense you kindly put it! Would cancel and refund I'm doing the same feel uncomfortable with the whole thing!

It's just dawned on me that this might be the same bloke I had bother with in January. Ebay name at that time was 'planethifidotcodotuk', he also said his mate Jason would make arrangements to collect. I never heard any more and cancelled the sale and refunded money after nine days. Cheeky bastard left negative feedback.

I am sympathetic to the vendor in this instance but I would advise against making public assertions about a person's "wellness". Even if such concerns are valid, they are best communicated in a PM. If they are not, you are leaving yourself open to action by that party.

List the speakers back up, you've been more than patient Bev. Im confident you'll get contact once they ate listed back available. It's not fair operating in this way. Generally collection only makes items a bit cheaper, if you cannot collect for whatever reason/ whats going on in your life, then you shouldn't commit to buy.

I've contacted my bank but they are unable to help

I now have his phone number but as 02 is down in my area at the moment I can't make any calls and I don't have a home phone anymore

Just spoken to Malcolm on the phone and now have his bank details to refund him

He tried to tell me something about getting 'contact details for me'...I've got no idea what he's on about as I'm contactable here on AoS, anyway to be fair I just ignored all that and said "no sorry I am refunding you" which I will be doing in a moment..

Old habits?
I've been waiting for 10 weeks for him to pay for and collect Tannoy Cheviots that I've refoamed for him.
No responses to any comms.

What would be a reasonable storage cost?

Sorry Frank. Completely misread your post

Tenner a week is reasonable but I would give him 14 days warning of the charge unless you agreed up front that non-collection would result in storage fees.

I am in a situation with him at present - he hasn’t appeared here since 5th June - he hasn’t responded to any of my comms
He has paid me (I wasn’t really expecting it)
I don’t know where he lives etc..

All very strange, makes no sense to me. OK I suppose that he has already paid, but part of selling stuff is to make space for something else. Providing free warehousing shouldn't be part of the deal :(

Yes indeed - very strange
Anybody want to borrow Malcolms speakers?
